Wonder if anyone can tell me if this is possible.

We are using a sharepoint site at work where we host excel documents
The documents have photos in them and we're using a huge amount of space because each time someone modifies the document a whole new one is saved including all photos.

I can't change the setup, all I can do is alter the excel files.

Is it possible to link to a photo in excel so it still shows in the document but isn't saved as part of it.

I'm thinking in a similar way to the way a phpbb forum works where you use the command but rep this would let us host the photos in another location so they would not be saved with each modification.

In excel, when inserting a picture you can click the dropdown on the insert button and choose 'link to file'. Not tried it with Sharepoint but should work if images are hosted where they can be accessed by all. Another thing is to right click on image and compress it, rather than using full size original.
