The scene, a village curry house.
Enter stage left, a tired and weary CFH in search of the takeaway ordered earlier (lamb karahi, chicken jalfrezi, rice, garlic naan, tadka dahl and all the poppadums)

Friendly chap in curry house, "It'll be about five or ten minutes. Beer while you wait?"

Self, "Thanks, but I'm driving, so I'd rather not"

Then I notice the sounds emanating from the speakers...

It's Band Aid.

*Gulps*

On dangerous ground here. Minutes pass, curry still not ready.

Bananarama.

*Clenches*

The song is ending. Is that the Gates of Wamhalla I hear opening?

My curry arrives...the song changes...

It's only Shakin' Stevens!

CCTV footage of me leaving here;

I'm out, as of last Saturday evening.

Heard those fateful notes as I was standing at the urinal in a pub in Whitehaven.

Had to drown my sorrows, obvs.

Out as of 8am today. Got in the work van this morning, someone had left a Christmas CD in the stereo and the first track to play was Wham! Heard the first few notes before I could hit the off button.

Chris had better hide from me when I next see him, he didn't refuel it yesterday either 😡

Heard a cover version yesterday so not sure if I’m still in or not.

Original rules pic has gone, but it said covers and remixes were ok.
Only version I’ve heard is the one on the ad for the (no doubt classic) film, so still in... one day to go I believe!

That was a close one, Flashy. Sounds a risk worth taking for the curry though.

I'm beginning to think I've got some sort of free pass at the moment, been to all sorts of places in the last few days and not even had a whiff of being Whammed.
Slade? Tick
Wizzard? Tick
Band Aid? Tick
Shaky? Tick

But still no Last Christmas!.

I'm tempted to find thwe Best of Wham on YouTube just to see what happens.... 😉

Still in. Even the portable radio at the tip was being kind to me.

Is it wrong that I now feel like I'm missing out?

Still in, anti-social tendencies and noise cancelling headphones FTW.

Heard Slade about 10 times so I've probably had a few near misses.

Had we survived Whamaggedon I should have had a tale to tell of the hardihood, endurance and courage of my companions which would have stirred the heart of every STWer.

I was doing well but Stephen Merchant took me out when I watched 10 minutes of Click And Collect.

Arrgghhhh.... Spoke too soon.

Local news a short while ago had an article about Christmas lights, and guess what started playing in the background just at the end of it.

Is it wrong that I now feel like I’m missing out?

I was beginning to feel that way too. Almost like Stockholm Syndrome in reverse 😉

Was that a link to the video Houns? I think deliberate sabotage doesn’t count. Been in a restaurant tonight after that Star Wars shite and still in! 😊

Has to be the original.

Covers, karaoke, friends sings along, etc. None of them count.

You're still in.

Amazingly, still in.
Have heard what seems like every other piece of christmas music ever recorded - pop, rock, blues, easy listening, classical, carols.
Is Lincoln a Wham-free zone?
Can't see it lasting through tomorrow, knowing where I'll be going.

Lady in coffee shop today had Wham t-shirt on. I thought it was a good psychological tease to those who’re still in...

“yeah, I know what you’re up to and I have your fate waiting on my Spotify list”

Out. Darn it. Friend picked me up to go and see some other friends. Heart FM in the car. First song playing as we drove off.

They've got a lot to answer for.

Still in. When precisely does it finish? Out for dinner tonight at friends but I like to think they have taste, so ought to be OK.

I thought I’d made it. Just about to go to bed and read. Then my daughter came in and had insisted on putting on Christmas songs on the radio. I’m not so confident now!

Think I've done it as listening to 6music at present; will soon be time to either watch/listen to midnight mass so unless Wham have infiltrated BBC's religious broadcast schedules.......
I assume I'll get my reward in heaven?

Yes, made it, well happy. I have ruined Christmas in the process, but sacrifices must be made.

Made it. Had a close call driving north at the weekend, and again on the 23rd when food prepping demanded festive music, but done. I feel better in my soul.

Living in Sweden has so many advantages...

Hurrah! - I'm a winner

Going to double down and see if I can avoid hearing about "getting (something) done" before NYD

Made it 🙂

Only one close shave that required a rule check.

I will press on for the NYD double.

Still dissapointed I got COKED so early as I watch everything on the Hunax recorded.

Considering I wasn’t playing, listened to the radio, went Christmas shopping a few times and several Xmas events I only heard it once. Seems it’s probably not hard to avoid.

Just been whammed at my parents! Made it all the way to Christmas day!

Close call last night at friends. All manner of Christmas songs being played as background. Luckily no Wham. So I made it.

My Sis-in-law played it "for me" on Christmas day. By then I'd completed the challenge though 🙂
Funnily enough, it's nowhere near the most irritating Christmas song, so maybe it'll be something else next year... Sladeageddon or summink.
