It's a first for me.
Opened the (sealed) Amazon box and notice the box that the cheap smart watch I'd ordered had no clear plastic on it. Sure enough, upon opening it, the watch has just been torn out with the charge lead and manual left remaining.
All sorted within minutes via a call back from Amazon thankfully.
Is this common?
yes, Amazon have great customer service. Other companies, less so.
Not Amazon, but I bought a sealed lead-acid battery and the box had a flap cut in the side and contained nothing but packaging. Had video of the courier delivering it and the box was obviously much lighter than it should have been. The seller sent another by a different courier and I had it in less than 24 hours.
I haven't but I do think their packaging invites it, with the rolled-over "box" with the end flaps just tucked in
^^ I know what you mean but this box was a proper, old school, sealed one.
The picker (machine or human) evidently put in an empty box before it was sealed.
Yes, Garmin watch for the Mrs' b-day a couple of years back, Amazon were good and sorted a replacement pretty quickly.
Not had the item we were buying stolen, but once opened a box that had everything we ordered inside, plus some bonus empty packaging for some football related tech (sensors you attached to your shoes if memory serves).
I got an empty package where it appeared the item probably fell out rather than stolen but like above, a quick call to Amazon and sorted in minutes.
There's probably a reasonable amount of theft from the warehouse, I briefly worked in one about 15 years ago and you would have random searches when you entered and left the building and the small, high value items were in s separate area where the temp staff weren't allowed. I saw the police there on a few occasions. There would be opportunity for the people packing the item to steal it but it would be difficult to go undetected.
I suppose most warehouses would have the opportunity for theft, if you’re so minded.
I used to work for (a company who make lawnmowers, among other things) where, despite a very generous discount scheme even for temps, theft still happened periodically.
What kind of halfwit steals from the organisation they rely on for employment/money?
Maybe halfwit is too generous.
I used to work with a bloke who’d occasionally return an empty box to Amazon. He got a refund every time.
The money they save on checking returns pays for the replacements I guess
I'm pretty sure I had my sweets nicked out of a Wiggle parcel once.
