Slight rant about Evans...
After ordering a helmet 9 days ago and no update on the website or contact from Evans decided to contact them today. Their reply, oh, that helmet is actually out of stock. There is nothing we can do, have a refund. Nothing major, just very frustrating that I've had to contact them to get MY money back. Back to a more trusted shop and to avoid Evans for the future
Is it me or has the standard of ranting really deteriorated these days?

I think the standard has improved. Much better grammar, less superfluous caps, paragraphing, even complex things like "problem, method, solution, conclusion" seem to be achieved nowadays.
You think that's bad, went to Sainsburys so I could complain about the lack of toilet paper, and they had some. Very poor service, how can I be outraged now.
It was coconut scented so I'm still slightly peeved.
Had a similar issue with them recently, ordered a fork, an expensive one at that, and was told it was on back order and would be back in stock in 7 days.
I wasn't in a rush and could wait so therefore i waited - no updates - 14 days go by and i was then told it wouldnt be in stock for a month.
Starting to get a bit impatient i decided to ring them, they told me that stock kept getting delayed from their supplier, not our fault it will be in stock in the next week.
Another 14 days goes past no update, phone them up same message again, ask for name of supplier which surprisingly they gave to me, contacted supplier who told me no that particular fork is last years model and there are none available and we have not stock to send anyone.
Phoned back evans and kicked off got told that they would issue a refund and that was all they could do, lodged a formal complaint with the manager and told them to issue the refund.
Since they have been taken over by Mike Ashley (Sports Direct Man) their service has been awful - i have vowed never to use them again. Terrible company.
Ordered the same fork from Wiggle the next day who had stock in (Albeit at a higher cost) fork was in my garage within 3 days.
The team at Deansgate in Mcr are dead helpful and friendly TBF.
Not their fault the overall stock control system is a pile of shite.
I only use them for odd bits I need to pick up in person or to click-and-collect some of the mad bargains that appear on the website, not all of which actually exist obvs.
I've had a very patronising experince with a member of staff in the deansgate store a while back. Along the lines of "You must pay top whack for this specialist overpriced top branded item instead of that other completely fit for purpose item at a fraction of the cost. If you don't you'll break your bike and then you'll be sorry". I wasn't sorry.
I'll go there to pick up the odd thing purely due to convinience but won't be seeking advice again.
They were awful enough before that sports direct toss pot
Their HR team is discriminatory I found
If I knew what I do now, I would have kicked up more of a fuss
Lucky miss I reckon
🙂
Yawn. Similar story.
Ordered 4 items well before 3pm cut off (10am), paid for next day delivery. Nothing turned up next day.
1 item turned up the day after and then radio silence. Contacted them a day later and asked where the other stuff was...blah...blah long story over several days...nothing...blah......out of stock.....blah..eventual refund....complained and was told I'd get an evoucher for a small amount in compensation of the hassle (had to call them 4 times)
Never got the evoucher.....
So thats that. Never use them again. Simples.
