Let me know what it's like, as I'm tempted but suspect it'll be terrible (as in actually terrible, not good terrible like Eurovision)

Bland, formulaic fodder. I could tell you the entire plot and it wouldn’t be a spoiler as we’ve seen it all so many times. Not as much laughter as I wanted but still entertaining enough that it left it running.
Demi Lovato was entertaining.

Lightweight but enjoyable. Liked Rachel McAdams and Dan Stevens, Will Ferrell just did normal Will Ferrell.

Surprised at how affectionate it was towards the whole thing. Half the parody songs on the soundtrack would have a fair chance of winning the contest as well!

Fun enough, it's no Blades of Glory though. Lots of Eurovision cameos in there, the big group song in the middle had me chuckling at each reveal.

PLAY JAJA DING DONG!

the big group song in the middle had me chuckling at each reveal.

I must admit, I did enjoy this, cheesy as hell, but uplifting.

I might have to learn Ja Ja Ding Dong. Got to be a great pub song...

That Demi Lovato song has hit written all over it.

Just watched this, Daft/camp/cheesy feelgood fun IMO. Wont be in a rush to watch again but decent enough film. Songs were actually decent but then I'm a fan of parody-pop stuff (Lonely island ect)

Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Not the best of movies for sure, and all the cliques were there, but that was to be expected.
Funny, feel good, and one for the Icelandic tourist board to bounce off.
Will be good if Lion of Love gets a proper release. As I work with a few Russians, the line "Mother Russia does not agree" resonated.

Interesting to see people that it was alright, we avoided it after reading the review on the Beeb which slated it. Maybe we'll give it a go.

Will Ferrell just did normal Will Ferrell.

This is my fear, I find him excruciatingly unfunny.

I'm not sure it's avant garde enough for Will Gompertz, to be fair.

And to be fair to Ferrell, after the first five minutes, it was a pretty understated performance by his standards, and better for it. Not sure why they included that opening song, it means it takes the audience a lot longer to realise that it isn't all completely over-the-top parody of Eurovision.

Rachel McAdams' character is the centre of it, rather than him, for a change.

I tend to do the opposite of whatever Gompertz's reviews suggest. Hence my avoiding Joker.

I watched it on Saturday. Its a perfectly serviceable Will Ferrell comedy.

Bonus points for nailing Eurovision kitsch and for shooting it in Scotland, although that would mean that the UK won it the year before, which is more unrealistic than Pierce Brosnan's accent.

Bonus points for having the hydro in Edinburgh, and annoying the weegies 🙂

Watched it tonight with the family.
We thought it was pretty funny - Will Ferrell was pretty reserved which was a nice change.
Soundtrack was entertaining as were the Eurovision cameo's.
Some real LOL moments too, and also goes to show that Bond actors can't do accents.

As Ferrell fans we started this last Saturday but turned it off as it was dreadful. We may give it another chance though.

Just watched it. Predictable, cheesy and clichéd. Absolutely loved it!

Not seen it yet but a friend is in it, wearing a purple suit, possible holding drumsticks. 5 seconds of fame.

10 fold in this. I tried to keep watching but after 30 minutes I gave up.

although that would mean that the UK won it the year before,

Not necessarily, check out 1972:

In all but five of the years since this rule has been in place, the winning country has hosted the show the following year. The exceptions are:

1960—hosted by the BBC in London when the Netherlands declined due to expense. The UK was chosen to host because it had come second in 1959.[41]
1963—hosted by the BBC in London when France declined due to expense, as did second- and third-placed Monaco and Luxembourg when offered hosting duties.[41]
1972—hosted by the BBC in Edinburgh when Monaco was unable to provide a suitable venue: Monegasque television invited the BBC to take over due to its previous experience.[41]
1974—hosted by the BBC in Brighton when Luxembourg declined due to expense. The BBC was becoming known as the host by default, if the winning country declined (though 1980 was an exception).[42]
1980—hosted by the NOS in The Hague when Israel declined due to expense, having staged the 1979 event in Jerusalem, and the fact that the date chosen for the contest (19 April) was Israel's Remembrance Day that year. The Dutch offered to host the contest after several other broadcasters (including the BBC) were unwilling to do so.[41] The reluctance of those national broadcasters to stage the contest were due to already having hosted the event during the past couple of years, in addition to the expense involved.
With the invitation of Australia to participate since 2015, it was announced that due to the logistical and financial issues that would occur if Australia were to host,[43] in the event of an Australian victory, the broadcaster SBS will co-host the next contest in a European city in collaboration with an EBU member broadcaster of their choice.[44] However, this has yet to happen and since 1981, all contests have been held in the country which won the previous year.
