Help please,
Off to France next week with family and I have only ever been in Europe working and this was all done for me.

What is the best way to get my money exchanged to Euros?

Thanks

Take it out the cash machine when you get there. Possible to save a couple quid with other methods but really not worth the hassle.

I also use cash machines. Probably take 100 euros in cash as well, fetched from the bank or post office.
If going down the cash machine route its worth giving your bank a quick ring to check your card will be ok, not blocked after a certain amount etc.

- go to university and study for an MSc in international financial markets

- lease a bloomberg terminal (around £20,000 a year)

- spend years of your life learning to trade profitably

- use this to save £0.01 on every £1 you exchange 🙂

Or just take your debit card.

yep debit card for me. Unless your debit card has a very high overseas transaction fee in which case avoid small transactions and take a chunk of cash out each time.

if you have multiple cards, they all vary rate wise. Work out which is best and put all your monies behind it.

Cash point here too. If you are taking the train you can get Euro's at the Folkstone terminal before you board.

If you have to get them at the terminal pre-order online first, you'll get a better rate than if you just turn up.

My bank charges me 10 quid to draw 300 euros when in Europe.

I use the post office for euros. Order on line collect from local PO. They also do a prepaid credit card that you can draw on for free i have read. I will try that next time I go away.

Bank machine in said country.

Also it's Euro singular - similar to Sterling.

The Post Office Travel Money Card is good. No transaction fees when you use it in a shop etc and a flat 3 euro per cash withdrawal at ATM's. You can link a bank account and top up online when you are away.

I have recommend the EasyJet Pre paid Visa Card before on here.
This is all I take with me, and top up when needed.
