I will be catching Santander ferry in September, then driving to Girona region. I'll have two bikes on a towball rack. After a week or so cycling in the Girona region i will work my way back to Santander via the Pyrenees. I will be in Spain with possibility of Andorra and France.
I'm looking for some reasonably priced breakdown a recovery Insurance. Any suggestions?
I have a Skoda Octavia estate 150. A good idea to get a spare wheel? First car I have had without one!
Just add an extension to your current breakdown cover? That's what I usually do.
Yeah a spare wheel. A full size if it fits under your boot floor or otherwise a spacesaver. Also spare bulbs, beam deflectors, hi vis for everyone and some other mandatory stuff. Not breathalysers now though I think, although I still do have them.
We got pulled over in spain for not having a red and white reflective square on the bike rack. Copper let us off the fine, but when we went to buy one they were about double the price of paying the fine! Probably cheaper on amazon or ebay here though.
We broke down in Santander last summer. We had Green Flag cover and their service was excellent.
A nat west flex plus account gives good breakdown cover and other benefits for a monthly sum obs. It may work in your favor. We use it because the breakdown covers our 7.5m 4.8 t motorhome in Europe.

Do you mean NatWest? Most of their accounts only cover UK breakdown (apart from the black account which is strictly for rich people). I think nationwide have European cover.
I always use eurobreakdown
Had to use them twice in the past, no complaints and quote is better than add in to my UK policy.
I have annual on the van and 1 week for car each year.
I bought Green Flag cover 2 years ago when we drove to Denmark. An annual policy was cheaper than a stand alone 3 week one.
Got quotes from the AA but it was way more even though I was a member at the time.
No idea how good the breakdown service is because we didn't need to use it.
Edit: looked up cost. Is was £142 for a 14 year old car for one year of cover in 2023. Included car repatriation if needed.
Sorry yes. Nationwide.
We bought RAC insurance to cover our trip to France and it wasn't very expensive from memory. Good job too as the clutch went and we had to fly back while it was fixed.
