Oh man.... This is one of the reasons I decided to not bother with gas in our new van. (Heater and stove both run off diesel eliminating the need to find a gas supplier in the middle of nowhere and means no real chance of running out of fuel. Also means no gas tests which are obligatory every two years in Germany)

I fitted an underslung tank on our old T5 and it was always fun rummaging through the bag looking for the correct adapter and hoping it was the right one.

There's not one universal adapter, unfortunately.

From ChatGPT:

1. ACME Adapter (Threaded)

Countries: Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, Switzerland, parts of Eastern Europe

Threaded fitting you screw on

Common on motorhomes and autogas vehicles

2. DISH Adapter (Flat plate with center hole)

Countries: Italy, France, Portugal, Greece, some Eastern Europe

Most versatile – many European adapters work with this

Often used for BBQs, camping gas, and motorhomes

3. Bayonet Adapter (Twist-and-lock)

Countries: UK, Netherlands, Spain (some parts), Norway

Push in and twist to lock

Common in the UK especially

4. Euroconnector / Euronozzle (New standard)

Countries: Spain (increasingly), some modern stations across Europe

Designed to be cleaner and safer

Not yet widely adopted

You can buy a set for about £20-£25. We only use the acme screw on as most of our touring is Germany.

Adapters.

I bought these off eBay from a UK company and they work fine. I used the ACME one in Belgium last month.

This is also a good resource with LPG station locations
