I would like to avoid the interior of the new slowoldmanmobile taking on the look of the current one, cross between ploughed field and gravel drive. Quite fancy a decent boot liner. ukcustomcovers.com look like decent quality and value. Anyone any experience or other recommendations?

I've got one from 'Hatchbag' for my Focus hatch. Bit pricey, but well made, fits well and still in good shape after a couple of years.

Halfords do a boot liner, partial rubber/foam mix and easily cut/trimmable, comes in numerical sizes 1-2-3-4 and I use a 2 for my SUV and have cut access holes in the sides for the hook retainers and trimmed the front section to fit the curve of my boot.

£20

I have a hatchbag for my Berlingo, split allowing me to keep one back seat in position whilst still covering the folded ones completely.  Excellent piece of kit had if for 2 years and it's like new.  When I clean it 🙂

My mum has one in her Octavia Estate for dog transport.  I think they're ace.

Ours is by Rhino - 3 years old and still going strong (despite muddy dogs / bikes etc). Custom fit for the can and highly recommended!

Had the choice with my new car, either the expense of a tow bar & rack, or hatchbag... went with the hatchbag.

I bought a shaped liner and the posh carpet to go in my e class estate, from somewhere like carmats4u, very pleased with it

I have a dog which is the main reason for it, bikes go on the tow bar generally

I got an official BMW one for my E61 5 Series - brilliant bit of kit, fitted perfectly, holes at the sides where the load securign points were, had an extension for when the back seat was folded flat to line the entire rear of the car. Wasn't that much more expensive than the aftermarket ones.

Short version: see if you can get an oem one from a dealer.

I went to a carpet shop and got an off cut. Spent two minutes cutting it to size.

Three years later, still fine and a snazzy grey/blue/green stripe.

£5 well spent.

Pond liner or something similar. Cut & shaped to fit using plenty of gaffer. Punched a load of eyelets into it & used paracord and small carabiners off ebay to hold it into place. Despite a few minor repairs and alterations, still going strong after a couple of years use.

I have 2 stinky dogs and the boot of my C class estate is mint. As long as the mess is on top of the liner thats good enough. I have had one from Amazon for about 3 yrs and its still OK. Doesnt fit perfectly but I wouldnt pay big money for the manufacturers version that offers zero additional benefit

I've got an genuine VW boot liner in my car which has lasted 10 years. It has been worth the extra money.

I've a rigid plastic thing that the Volvo came with. Amazing as it's got 20cm high lip all round - but doesn't work if you flip seats down, or make it easy to get to underfloor storage. Avoid.

Got one from Aldi. They do two sizes , they are trimmable so you can shape to suit. Nice thick rubber so will last and easy to remove and clean. Dealt with the families muddy walking boots when we were in the lakes a couple of weeks ago.

Saw one in someone's car the other week that was remarkably well made and very neatly fitted, so I asked where they got it from: Hatchbag.

I've got one of these;  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-5-SERIES-F11-TOURING-ESTATE-TAILORED-BOOT-LINER-MAT-DOG-GUARD-2010-17-073/111605761986 for my 5er. Does the job pretty well, but it's a little short when the seats are down.

We have had Hatchbag before and have them on the current estates. They stop cars smelling of wet dog and are good for stopping dog hairs getting everywhere. Probably overkill for many but great for dog users. I have an eclass (s212 for the Merc nerds) one in the garage if anyone wants it?
