Its an 8ft x 8ft roof. Ive got some contact adhesive for the edges , its recomended 150mm all around the edge. But is it likely to cause a problem if i dont use any water based adhesive for the middle of the roof? It is only a small roof and the material will be held down by the edge adhesive and the batons around the edge. Perhaps have a few points with contact adhesive for that area? Cheers.
I’d not want to cut that corner personally, you’ll leave yourself more prone for water finding a way in with nowhere to go and that’ll be the end of your roof as it rots away.
When I did mine they advised me to use water based glue all over, they said the contact glue should only be used by pros because it is very easy to cock up the whole roof of you get it wrong.
In a rush to make it waterproof for the winter, I bought a piece big enough to do my half of a shared garage. (Neighbour had had his done a year or two previous).
I bonded the edge to my neighbours epdm roof using the special bonding strip, then rolled it across over mine & over the edge. I then put the trim strips on to hold it down.
It’s still there now, 4 years later.
I never got around to rolling it back & gluing it. 🙂
Glueing the middle down is just to prevent wind uplift which may or may not be a problem depending in your exposure.
