Anyone got any experience of anywhere that engraves a logo/mono image onto a hip flask? Obviously I've Googled and found a few candidates but if anyone has actually used somewhere it can reassure that they're decent! Most of the results of a search turn up places that will just engrave words, I'm after somewhere I can upload an image file. (It's for a leaving present)

Cheers! (Literally!) 😉

A few years ago I just went to a few local jewellers and found one that could do it.

Now that is a revolutionary suggestion, an actual shop! I may give a couple of local ones a call - suspect that the logo may prove a bit intricate to be done by hand however TBH. Thanks for the idea though.

Engraving an image requires different equipment to words/line drawings. The cheapest method is to use an impact engraver (like an old-school dot matrix printer). You often get these at key-cutters & even market stalls as they use them for doing pet tags. Obviously these people will not be specialist operators though so it depends how valuable/unique the flask is as to whether you'd trust them!! The other option is a fibre marking laser although these are considerably more expensive.

If the image can be converted to a line-drawing then you can use traditional hand or CNC engraving tools.

You can mark stainless steel with a co2 laser and a surface treatment like Cermark (less durable) or use a fibre laser on various metal surfaces. These methods will be able to mark a raster (bitmap) image like a photo onto the surface in a monotone. You will need a good image which will look nice in a mono though. Vector file for a logo will work best. The curve of the flask will make it tricky as it is difficult to get the laser to focus across the whole area. A normal cylindrical bottle is easy in comparison. HTH
