Have just had my gas & electric bill through. EDF seem to have added the government rebate to what we owe them - is this wrong or have I misunderstood?
Surely they ought to have taken it off what you owe them?
EDF certainly took it off our bill.
What they seem to have done is taken opening balance (slightly in debit) and added the charges. They’ve then added the EPSS rebates (which were paid back into our current account rather than into the bill) and then subtracted what we’ve paid in.
It makes it look like EDF have refunded us £333 rather than HMG, and doubled what we owe them. Of course they’ve then recalculated our DD based on that.
I don’t mind paying them what they’re owed but this looks to my inexpert eye like they’ve got their maths wrong?
Just check there is a corresponding credit and debit on the bill, that's how SP do it with the credit to the bank. Bit confusing at first till you see it come in then go out of the bill.
What they seem to have done is taken the EPSS payments off the amount owed before putting that on the bill, so it’s right. Not immediately obvious how they’ve got there though, but working through p3 of the bill comes to their numbers.
