I posted about my OH's job in September:

Any chance of a bit more advice?
My GF is having a bit of trouble with the GMB at the moment. Cutting the
story short, her work was making redundancies. On the last day of her
Summer holiday (school) she was told she wasnt being made redundant, but
her hours were being cut from 5 days a week (5hrs a day) to one day of 5
hours.
Initial advice from the GMB was to not go in to work, as the one day a
week was not an acceptable alternative to redundancy.
2 weeks later, she was threatened with dismissal, so the GMB said go back
to work, dont sign anything, and we'll fight this, and get your
redundancy.
She has now gone through all of the internal grievance procedures, just
waiting for a ruling by the Governors legal reps (6 weeks since the
hearing, which is taking the pee more than slightly).
The GMB say they dont think they can support her any more, but this is a garbled message she got, so may not be true.ACAS have been involved, so she still has time to make the claim.
I said we'll just start on the Employment Tribunal path without them. What
do you reckon?

why will GMB not support her anymore? this is what you pay your union fees for and something like this should be the full time officer not just a local rep - and the union should have a lawyer she can use as well.

Get that message in clear from the union.

I bet the delay is beacuse the schools lawyers know damn well the school have effed up. Its a pretty clear unfair dismassal case IMO and from what I know so you should win at tribunal - but the very threat will probably be enough to force a compromise agreement ie a pay off to shut up and go away
