Hi
Looking for a cracking pub for a Sunday family meal. Kid friendly and a lovely roast are top of the list. Top beer is also a fairly high priority.
Thanks in advance
Joiners Arms in Newton by the Sea will do the job nicely
Jolly Fisherman Craster or The Plough in Alnwick.
The Ship at Low Newton that said I'm not sure the do Sunday lunch.
Horse Shoes Rennington for home style lunch in a real old fashioned pub.
Dirty Bottles Alnwick.
Bet you're hating the dreadful beaches.
Cheers I’ll have a look
Red Lion, The Sun Inn. Both in Alnmouth.
Fisher Boat Inn at Boulmer seems to have upped it's game too.
Have you tried the Greys Inn ?
Joiners at High Newton is good too.
As above, Joiners Arms (try to book).
The Ship, Low Newton all fab.
The Castle, Bamburgh.
If it's anything like Saturday gone ..I would suggest going around about breakfast time ..or during the week ..or on a nasty rainy day ..
Queues out of the door at the Ship Inn in Low Newton had me cursing blowing a quid in the car park up the road ..
Moving on to Craster ..it was closed ..or might as well have been as there wasn't a single parking space to be had ..getting a bit naffed off now as my stomach was grumbling we went for a safe bet at the Hogs Head in Alnwick ..which was surprisingly good ..
Good luck !
Yeah The Ship gets packed.
Where did you try to park at Craster?
The Hogs Head is generic grub not much better than a Toby.
We toured the car park and joined a line of cars which went around once then out again ..and ignoring the signs saying no public parking beyond this point went down to the Jolly Fisherman (I remembered that there were a few spaces in front of the pub ) ..but those spaces were taken too ..and not having any further idea as to where to park ..headed off to Alnwick ..
^^^ the car park in the old quarry always has spaces up at the back ?
Bloody hell I knew the area was busy this weekend but that's mad.
Back to our usual retreat for a week at Easter, cannae wait, been going for over a decade now..
Shhh! Don't tell everyone.
The parking spaces have been reduced and fenced off Ian ..I think due to a rock fall..
Ah, ok, that explains it
Sunday lunches at the Joiners are great. But you'll probably need to book.
We park on the lane before you get into Craster, pointless even driving past the little T junction after the stone gate. Drive down, don’t turn right into Craster but turn left along the lane (like everyone else)
The beaches are shit, and the people are grumpy.
Don’t Go is my overall statement.
The Ship is amazing, I was there on Friday but you cannot book and they certainly don't do a roast. Doesn't meet your requirements.
As above, The Joiners at High Newton, Jolly Fisherman at Craster, Craster Arms at Beadnell.
The Ship is not a "Sunday Roast" type place, also ruined by Tarquin and his pals ordering coffee and hot chocolate, which takes ages to serve. If you want a coffee **** off to a cafe, don't go to a micro brewery.
The Longstone House Hotel at North Sunderland/Seahouses, has very good food, decent beer and plenty of parking to.
The obvious benefit of the Joiners is that post lunch is it just a delightful stroll away from Embleton along the beach, this means you can enjoy a few beers over lunch without worrying about driving.
Happy days thanks.
New contender.
Sea and Soil at Amble.
