I have a yahoo account. I have had it for years. I also have a lifetime email (cantab.net).
several years ago (maybe ten?) I set up the lifetime email & yahoo so that all the email to my cantab address was redirected to my yahoo, and I checked all my messages through yahoo webmail. I believe i used POP forwarding to do this.
*idiot alert* Does the POP forwarding live in the yahoo account and go and pull the email forward fro the lifetime account? Or does it exist in the lifetime account and push the email through to yahoo?
yahoo don't support POP anymore, but the forwarding is still happening. I would like it to stop, so I can now use the lifetime email as my primary contact, using IMAP through iOS on my phone and iPad.
which service needs to be changed to stop the POP?
The forwarding will be in the cantab settings. Once you cancel it you can just ignore the yahoo account. You'll also need to find out the server names and possibly the encryption protocols (iOS may be able to detect them) used by cantab so that you can set up IMAP on your devices.
Winner, thanks. I’ll go look there.
