You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
The Trump-style 'sorry not sorry' grovelling has started, which contains a priceless bit of paraphrasing:
"My words were spoken in anger after Mr. Unsworth said several untruths & suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub, which had been built as an act of kindness & according to specifications from the dive team leader," he said.
FFS how can he continue to screw it up. He needs better PR advisors (and to stop being a cock).
Maybe his advisers could get him to explain that what he meant to say was the guy was NOT a pedo? Then that would explain everything and we could carry on as normal
You would think that the CEO of a company drilling a giant hole through California would know by now that the first thing to do if you are trying to get out is to stop digging.

Looks like he is at it again
I am rich, I can trash you in whatever manner I like, safe in the knowledge that you will never have the funds, time or energy to compete with me legally.
What a prize turd.
Phah 🤣
Unsworth will have enough support to fight those allegations, no problem finding funding I suspect. There are plenty of Musk Haters out there who would willingly crowdfund (or corporate) fund any legal claims.
Its certainly a story to unfold this one.
I am rich, I can trash you in whatever manner I like, safe in the knowledge that you will never have the funds, time or energy to compete with me legally.
Well unless i have to pay to pay all my money to defend stock manipulation lawsuits
Does he behave like a dick when he's taking medication or not taking it?
What a strange man.
I think he's up to something....... this plus the corporate compliance issues, I'm wondering if he's trying to get removed from his position at Tesla. I know that he's got huge bonuses coming if he meets his targets, but by all account Tesla is in trouble, so I'm wondering what his contract says about being dismissed?
If he really is working 120hours, taking drugs to sleep and probably to focus on work while sleeping in the floor at work is probably not great for his mental health...
Douglas Adams wrote that "insanity was a gradual process. You shouldn't rush it"
If he's going for a mental competence dismissal he might want to pace himself a bit.
Just playing devils advocate for a minute (I'm not suggesting Musk is correct in his accusations)
But they do seem like some fairly specific allegations (which could easily be proven either way with the 12 year old bride allegation) - hopefully the truth will out (ideally with Unsworth being innocent / no kids hurt) either way..

Which raises the question if someone writes something untrue about someone "off the record", and someone else publishes it worldwide. Who is committing the libel?
The publisher is committing the libel. The individual is potentially committing slander. Where Twitter falls in the libel/slander axis I'm not sure.
Where Twitter falls in the libel/slander axis I’m not sure.
Libel I believe. Lord McAlpine used a Libel action against Sally Bercow for some crap she posted on twitter.
Since the me too accusations it has been made clear that the laws in the USA and UK regarding liable are significantly different.
if you publish in the USA the onus is on the accused to demonstrate their innocence
if you publish in the UK the onus is on the accuser to demonstrate guilt
to prove a null is a challenge. Non observance of an action does not prove that it did not happen.
The tone of musks email sounds familiar somehow.
Makes you think...
which could easily be proven either way with the 12 year old bride allegation
Diver bloke moved to Thailand to be with his Thai bride who he met in the UK
Who's 40.
Specific allegations are just as spurious as vague allegations. Pity Teslabloke couldn't be arsed fact checking before flinging poop about.
What a despicable man.
The tone of musks email sounds familiar somehow.
Makes you think…
I was just thinking the same thing.
He even does the "this google link says part of my story true so the whole thing must be" thing.
Not to mention the ‘do your own research to back up my assertions’ too.
if you publish in the USA the onus is on the accused to demonstrate their innocence
if you publish in the UK the onus is on the accuser to demonstrate guilt
Which is why the UK is very popular for 'libel tourism'. If you can demonstrate that the tweet was read widely in the UK, it has been published here, and you can bring your case here.
Which raises the question if someone writes something untrue about someone “off the record”, and someone else publishes it worldwide. Who is committing the libel?
Apparently, the person who posted that never agreed to it being ‘off the record’, it needs both parties to be in agreement for it to be binding.
Also of the record normally does not mean sent in writing and signed...
EM might be bright be he is being a massive male chicken. Horrible man.
My next car will not be a Tesla (although it wasn't going to be anyway...)
If EM & Tesla are on the skids, he could do what the Delorean guy did and have a bash at the export / import trade?
Sorry, but Thailand vs UK - where do you go if you are into sports, diving etc... muddy shitty cold water or ...
Musk must be all the Deputy CEO's/PR Departments worst colleague, after Trump.
He's on the JRE tomorrow, wonder if this will come up, can't see Joe bringing it up
I can see a new MARVEL or similar movie coming out - real life mega millionaire causing bother - any super hero's out there...?
I wonder if Elon is doing this to break the fall of potentially getting #Metoo'd.
Sorry, but Thailand vs UK – where do you go if you are into swapping body fluids with someone who looks like a 12 year old .....
if you publish in the USA the onus is on the accused to demonstrate their innocence
if you publish in the UK the onus is on the accuser to demonstrate guilt
...but you can do what you want ON MARS!
maybe it's all part of a big publicity stunt and he'll escape on a spacex rocket to his until now secret mars colony just as SEC/lawyers swoop!
I wonder if Elon is doing this to break the fall of potentially getting #Metoo’d.
I doubt it is that thought through. Think it would be insane hours, insane stress and dubious medication.
It could be just that he's been replaced by a robot and the AI's taking some time to get the hang of things.
I watched the above conversation earlier and despite holding what I thought to be a suitably well considered impression of his character based on his past behaviour, especially given what is posted above regarding the cave rescue and the diver in question. I’ve not watched nor read anything that cast doubt on my opinion but after watching this JRE with Elon Musk I’m now a tad confused and conflicted. Perhaps he’s really an autistic alien entity, sent to rescue the human race with the knowledge that we are ultimately doomed as an earth dwelling species unless we leave the planet to the coming AI overlords that will be our undoing...........or, as I thought, he’s just a dick.........a rich dick with the ability to create hype and controversy.
Watch from 12 minutes into the conversation as he talks about AI, at 20 minutes into the conversation he gets real dark as he talks about his fears regarding AI, the look on his face, his tone of voice and demeanour were very reminiscent of post apocalyptic disasters such as in the movie “I Am Legend”. It seemed fitting to imagine a future scenario of a gathering of people on a dystopian and AI ravaged earth viewing an old recording of the exact moment when the great inventor spoke of the dangers that were ultimately ignored to the detriment of the human race
But later on in the video he drinks whisky, smokes a bit of weed, chills out and relaxes into the interview with Joe and ultimately I think he’s most likely an engineering genius yet his frustrations sometimes overrule his ability to control his “inner dick mode”. Unfortunately for Elon there is no place to hide.
So yeah.......I'm unsure what i think.....but i would like to share a beer and a joint with him and find out more.
Frack me, Elons gone full toasterl. Quick, someone call Saul mother****ing Tigh.
On a serious note, I think someone like Joe Rogan would be able to manage someone as bat **** insane as Elon. Good interview, if Elon knows whats good for him he will take Rogan up on the deprivation tank idea and get some sleep.
Elon rather worryingly, reminds me of some Finnish friends of mine.
Joe interrupted Elon far too much at the start of the podcast but he laid off as the podcast progressed which allowed Elon the time to think and formulate his responses, he seems like someone who takes time to consider every word very carefully which is why I can’t fathom why he would go off on one against that diver.
Its mushroom season (or just about), perhaps he needs to take 100 shrooms and lie down in joes flotation tank, take a dive inside his head and have a root through the dark drawers and cupboards of his mind, a dose of shrooms every year sorts me out of ingrained patterns of behaviour and thought processes so it’s good to hit the reset/refresh/reboot button every year.
I think he’s most likely an engineering genius
I think he's a marketing genius but I'm not so impressed with his understanding of engineering, especially production engineering. Making a good low-volume car for 100K isn't actually that difficult, but making money selling cheap cars is really difficult. Tesla basically bought the design for the first Tesla from Lotus and the electric drivetrain would have been mostly off-the-shelf components, but they still lost money on every vehicle sold. Musk and his fanbois insisted that they could make a cheap mass-market vehicle that would be profitable. They simply didn't take seriously the difficulty of that. Toyota, VW, GM, Ford, etc have decades of experience of making metal boxes on wheels and know how to screw all the bits and pieces together cheaply enough that they can make money at it. Musk just didn't seem to take the production side of things seriously, he just assumed everyone else was a moron and he would find magical solutions through sheer will-power. That's not genius, that's arrogant bullshit.
Noted he ends that JRE interview with a note of contrition (at least recognition):
'It's easy to demonize people (via social media) - and you're usually wrong about it...'
Contrition is good, but reparation is better. Better still is the maturity and presence of mind to inform oneself that some things cannot be repaired.
We seem as a culture to be caught in a seemingly endless shitty feedback loop with social media creating culture creating social media. Jack, what was that? Oh yeah:
Well, in every complicated situation of a human relation
Makin' sense of it all takes a whole lot of concentration
Well, you can blame her baby for her pregnant ma
And if there's one of these unavoidable laws
It's that you just can't take the effect and make it the cause
The programmers here will appreciate this:
e.g.
autopilot had really high turnover at one point before release because some guy from space x came in and gave the entire dept a C pointer/memory test because Elon said they were "late" to ship.
Sounds like it was a bunch of people working in a small company playing engineer to get something to work with no real idea of the mass market implications or a desire to address them.
i have work on some projects like that where “development” was completed and handed over to manufacturing and it took another 5 years... final scale manufacturing processes, costs and limitations need to be considered during concept evaluation... mind you it is a whole lot less fun than the make a concept work bit...
I’ve no idea about all that shit up there 👆!
With regards to Mr Musk we are either looking at a fully ‘televised’ high profile breakdown or he is trying to get himself sacked before Tesla goes tits up for some reason. From the brief bits I have read, it sounds like a ‘cool’ company that outgrew its abilities.
But my money is on the former. Even if he is coming across as a total cock (and he is), I do hope there is someone he trusts and is trustworthy who can get him to look in the mirror properly and do something about it now. Whatever the case, being a cock is not a good enough reason for wanting someone to go over the edge.
elon musk who simultaneously believes that we are living in a simulation aka matrix and is scared that artificial intelligence is about to take over the world ? - which seem to very muddled thinking at least (if not bonkers)
He married the same woman twice and she took him to the cleaners. He's not that smart
Things just got interesting....
I’m fairly certain who has the better lawyers...
.... And I think it's pretty clear who said what about whom. Musk will lose.
You'd need to be pretty stupid to take him to court if what he was saying was right. I think Musk will lose.
‘I ****ing hope he sues me’
E Musk.
Well, now he has. Should be interesting.
Only $75k?
Does the 12 year old chinese bride thing not weigh heaviy in Musk's favour? (unless discredited - I've not been keeping up).
Does the 12 year old chinese bride thing not weigh heaviy in Musk’s favour? (unless discredited – I’ve not been keeping up)
What do you think the chances of that having been discredited are?
I have no idea, which is why I am asking.
I doubt the defamation case would be brought if there was any hint of that.
You have to understand that someone like Mr Musk must have a very active imagination.
well that's worked out well for him then.
Huge yawn.
Man makes loads of money through innovation; sets out to change the world; convinces himself he's infallible and invincible; spouts grollocks; finds out he's neither infallible nor invincible; tears all round; the end.
He gets to walk away with billions, so it has worked well for him.
What will the future be for the Tesla factory now then? I reckon it’ll last 2 years max.

Did you actually bother reading the article linked above?
From the article above:
As part of the settlement, Musk will remain Tesla’s chief executive but will have to step down as chairman of the company’s board of directors within 45 days.
I bet another car company goes for the take over now. Tesla will live on in future as Ford/GM/Geely/etc
Tesla doesn't have anything that other car companies need. They lose money on every sale. Might as well just pile 50 billion dollars in a heap and set it on fire.
Tesla doesn’t have anything that other car companies need.
This... the likes of GM etc already have the distribution and servicing network. They may need to update some production lines but they don’t need Tesla for this. Normally the biggest asset would be the IP but Tesla offered all this up for free to anyone who wanted it...
for sure there are some bits other companies want but they can just recruit the people doing it.
the challenge is not making an electric car for $50-80k but making money on one at s sale price of $20k
Another challenge is making a car that doesn't crash. Which is why the major manufacturers haven't joined Tesla's race to be first to bring "autonomy" to the marketplace.
He gets to walk away with billions, so it has worked well for him What will the future be for the Tesla factory now then? I reckon it’ll last 2 years max.
Did you actually bother reading the article linked above?
I did not. Why would I ?
This is the first step down to leaving the organisation IMO, walk away with billions in the bank whilst leaving the organisation flailing in the outfall of failed investment promises, failed promises of “class leading” and innovation poorly thought out. The outcome ?
Sinking ship.
Soon after, Mr Unsworth's lawyers posted a series of tweets criticising Mr Musk and his characterisation of their client.
Is this really what Lawyers do now ? 😳
"I did not. Why would I ?"
Because you would have been more likely to know what you're on about if you had.
