Although I imagine it will bounce back hard when musk is removed.

I’m not sure. A lot of the value of Tesla hinges on his perceived genius.

This seems a succinct summary of Musk’s problems. It’s odd then that his financial cheerleaders are willing to puff up the price of Tesla stock still though…

That’s the thing though - a lot of what he offers is either vapourware or clearly designed as a spoiler for something that actually works (see: Hyperloop and high-speed rail)

They've hit the big red button at Tesla, 0% is back on new 3 and Y - clearly miles behind forecast. He'll not last much longer as CEO - he can't.

In the meantime, the base level 3 is now £299 a month over 48 months with £4k in, and scrapes under the £40k 'luxury' tax threshold so cheap road fund licence.  There'll be a lot of people burying principles in favour of a good deal...

The thing remains that Tesla is hugely overvalued while he is CEO on account of his ‘genius’ and I think some of the bigger shareholders will try not to force him out because of that.

road fund licence

As this is at least in theory a cycling forum, I’m going to point out that the road fund was abolished in 1937.

Not giving them away though. £6140 or 18 months equivalent initial payment for PCP which is a bit spicy.

We’ve had Teslas since 2018. We’ve really enjoyed the cars. Any of my opinions on what I like about them will likely produce comment.

I think it would be hard to deny that Musk’s association with Tesla has made it viable. I also think that had Tesla not succeeded (by many measures) then EVs would still be kooky car choices. However, as a public company I do not think that Musk can continue as a viable CEO/president.

I think that there are a few stocks that appear overvalued. Some based on more incredible things than Tesla’s FSD, robots, and robotaxis. I will concede that FSD capabilities vary by territory.

I popped into a Tesla shop yesterday to check out the new Model Y. It is pretty good. More angular outside and simpler inside than my current Model Y. But the current UK brand standing and some of the competition make it look only OK even at 0% with £6,000 down.

TBH I am a bit sad at how this has turned out as I expect bigger ramifications for EVs than for Tesla alone.

irrespective of Tesla’s standing I do not want to go back to an ICE. EVs are so much more convenient, zippier, and fun to drive. And zero tailpipe emissions.

I learned many years ago that it is not real if it not in the product now.

sure, I’ve been surprised occasionally but on the whole it has helped me avoid disappointment on many occasions.

I am surprised at the credulity of many ‘journalists’ when it comes to tech nonsense. Too many examples to cite. The ‘better offline’ podcast (cool zone media) seems outlandish and yet …

I’m fairly sure he also arrived in the US on a student visa and then initially started working illegally, too.

I will concede that FSD capabilities vary by territory.
You mean the territories where they have multiple lawsuits and investigations after FSD keeps killing and maiming people, mainly as it only just follows the basics of functional safety?

There are several competitors that have more competent hardware/processing/sensor systems, yet they are generally only offering some sort of advanced autopilot functionality.

Some of them do seem good. I tried the Polestar 3 (EX90 in Polestar clothing I believe) - it was OK but £££. Current top of my list is the Polestar 4.

No argument from me there! TACO D doing with Muskrat what he does with everyone who sucks up to him; once they’ve stopped being useful they get dumped in the shitter.

I'm assuming he is now turning on the presidency and his team as all his work to save government money is about to go up in a cloud of smoke?

He was brought in and bigged up as a saviour-type person and all that work has been destroyed.

I can see why he is cheesed off...if he does devote the same level of persuasion to the opposite team then I suspect things are going to change dramatically by the mid-term stuff.

I'm saying all that but don't really follow all the chat around it all.

He does seem to have put Tesla on a shaky peg and I do think he needs to be taken down a peg or 2, but there are many others I'd say the same about.

Not bothered this really, but I do hope he turns this around and it absolutely smashes Trumps hold...if Tesla goes down with that, I'm not going to feel sorry for Musk (although there will be many people out of jobs and that is never good).

There are those persistent rumours around that the election result was "adjusted" in some key states. I wonder if Elon was involved. If so, Trump might be reluctant to have a go at him.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a shit about saving the government money. It's going to end up costing way more in the long term as all these federal agencies cease to function properly. Then his companies (starlink, space X, etc) would be perfectly placed to take over those roles/contracts.

Billionaires are not interested in improving the lives  of poor people.

Seeing how retrained Trump is in response to Musks criticism to the Big Beautiful Bill; i think its merely a play by both to get Musk safely distanced from Trump to save his companies.

There are a lot worse things in the BBB than the amount of `Pork` in it. Those states benefiting from that certainly will not be too upset about it .. and those mainly democratic states missing out are hardly a concern.

This is amazing to watch and it's only just started.

Let's face it, pretty much everyone knew this was going to happen, they are both power mongers and were never going to stay mates for long.

Interestingly the tech guy that Yusuf brought in to head the UK DOGE train of madness has also quit today along  with him.

This could prove inconvenient to Reform led Kent County Council that have cancelled all budgetary meetings until DOGE has "audited" the council. 😉

I think it really is just as chaotic as it looks. Didn't trump compare Ukraine and Russia as kids fighting in a playground earlier today? Amazing lack of self awareness.

 Anyway...

Yes, Vance could well end up being the beneficiary of all this in the next GE where I reckon he will be the new MAGA Messiah. Let's hope NAGA had eaten itself by then!

This spat also helps undermine Reform UK so it's a win, win. They are completely wed to the MAGA brand.

I am not sure he is particularly liked by the Maga crowd but was instead a compromise VP along the lines of Pence. It does give the fun dynamic though of the maga crowd with their blind loyalty to Trump (its not a bombshell trump was in the Epstein files for example although the details are obviously vague)  vs the funding the paypal mafia can throw against them.

Hopefully we will see Trump fight back asking about Musk and Sean Combs.

I just hope the best man wins the duel to the death and then succumbs to their wounds.

Is fully self-driving cars, which Musk keeps promising, but never seems to materialise

And won’t for the foreseeable future, the technology isn’t well enough developed for it, and, other than stupid Americans, I’m certain the majority of people simply won’t trust a ‘self-driving car’ to actually do it safely.
I know I don’t trust it, and I doubt it’ll be a available in my lifetime.

So Trump being implicated within the Epstein files?…..must be true/genuine otherwise Trump would have fired off a lawsuit or slapp order whatever.

Just imagine the pile of drugs musk will have in front of himself right now? I can see the headlines tomorrow………..Musk has died through O.D.”ing……or was it….accidental…….?, on purpose…..?, another hand being involved……?……..makes you think 🤔

Either that or musk will start his own political party, or it may all blow over and they’ll be best buds again by Sunday

Musk's "Trump is in the epstein files" tweet or "I knew this all along but still got him made president" tweet plus "Fine then you can't play with my rockets any more" is the man in a nutshell.

I think everyone knew they'd fall out and tear each other to bits eventually, but even I'm surprised by the sheer speed of it, I thought they'd drift apart over months and there'd be little falling outs that escalated.

I was looking for a graph of the Epstein files to see what context there was for this. Haven’t found it yet. However

Former US presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump are also named, with neither accused of wrongdoing.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how Trump reacts to that, as you say he could sue Musk for a massive amount if false but any legal action is going to involve discovery, including of the Epstein files. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Trump is named in them (and it's long been speculated he is) but I then wonder why the Democrats didn't expose it before the election...

Because: Clinton. They've already managed to persuade much of the Alt-Right that the Dems (and Hilary particularly) is a paedophile who regularly drinks the blood of stolen babies, there's little to no mileage for them to bring up Epstein. Musk on the other hand...

It'll be fascinating watching the fallout; It's going to be funny to see which way the likes of Alex Jones, Rogan, Shapiro, Kirk etc etc spin this

Anyone who was anyone will have known Epstein in that period and gone to his parties, so is likely to be named in the files. The question is in what context are they named? Clinton and Trump appear to have loose enough morals to fall into the Prince Andrew category of suspicion.

Those who were of a similar age or subsequently supported Clinton or Trump could also be under suspicion for knowing, enabling or covering up. If the Dems are clever, now is the time to start identifying and promoting younger rising stars with a cleaner back story.

"If" is doing a lot of lifting in that sentence.

Christ, just end the world now, it's embarrassing to us all that these clowns are anywhere near the levers of power

The electorate put them there (Trump directly, Musk slightly less so). Make of that what you will.

In the UK, the Labour victory last year was pretty much solely a backlash against the Johnson-Truss-Sunak shambles that was enabled by the UK's latest truly successful electoral guru - Dominic Cummings. And what was Cummings' basic method? Three word slogans, not facts, not nuance, not debate. He treated the UK electorate with utter contempt twice, and he won huge, twice.

Again, make of that what you will.

A war of words between a dementia suffering right-wing bloat and a drugged-up IT-fascist Incel...Somehow manages to speak for the whole of the American right.

Several photos of them together and a few interesting quotes on record although given its Trump they inevitably fell out.

One quote from an interview  in 2002 stands out.

"He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side"

The link isnt to the actual interview but note the date, its been open knowledge for years they are linked but as always the republicans ignore it whilst inventing stories about everyone else.
