What's the transconductance for a normal Mosfet?

A few millisiemens less than a BJT, now go do your own homework and next time don't leave it so late.

Surely it's just easier to do a search on google... the answer to this on there.

Well there's no such thing as a normal mosfet, and it's going to depend on the gate voltage.

Couldn't find it on google. And one you would find in an electronics A level class? Gate voltage variable between 0V and 15V.

Here you go... first hit on google...

I dunno... what are they teaching the yoof of today?

;o)

I just find electronics mind-numbingly boring. Much more interested in maths.

So why the hell would you take it? I don't understand this at all - I just don't get why students do courses they don't enjoy, there's absolutely no point.

Because universities want a certain amount of grades, because colleges force students to take certain amount of courses, etc. etc.

Yeah, but take courses you want to do, not any course to get the grades surely? I presume you won't be going into Elec Eng then lol.

Well obviously. But there's not enough courses. If I could've, I would've just done all maths courses. But there is only 2 (maths and further maths). I'm also doing physics, which is ok when you're doing something that is actually understandable or at least thinkable. Can't stand things like particle wave duality and stuff like that. It just feels like someone is trying to teach you something that no one understands in the first place. And no, I will be going into maths..

But seeing as electronics, and physics, is in general only the application of maths, then surely it should be right up your street..

:o)

I think that was the idea when I took them. However, they have far too many words in them. In electronics you don't need to be able to do any maths more complex then what you learn in primary school. Physics is only slightly better.

Hehehe.... you'll learn...

Either that or you did things like complex number theory and vector calculus at primary school!

Oh, I'm aware that it improves, but I'm talking about it at A level.
If a teacher mentioned complex numbers in an A level physics or electronics class 95% of the students wouldn't understand at all.

Jesus, they must be seriously dumbing down the A level course content these days then, as above - our Physics A level involved some pretty hefty calculus and complex number work, I used almost all of the Maths A level in the latter half of the Physics A level and my Further Maths a-level was not enough for the 2nd year of mech/elec eng degree. No wonder universities are having to drop course content, I genuinely feel a bit depressed about that.
