You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I have an elderly relative who needs some adaptations done to her bathroom, which will involve me heading down to Cornwall for a few days to rip out her bath and fit a shower cubicle instead.
The layout of her bathroom is a bit restrictive with the longer tray and seat she needs, so ideally I'd want to extend the outlet hose on her existing surface mounted 'power' shower so she can turn it on at the entrance, let it warm up then get in and sit down at the other end and use it either handheld or mounted.
My concern is that the shower is already reportedly a bit puny, is it possible it won't cope with up to a 3m hose? Would a beefier shower overcome this, or should I be looking for other solutions?
Designing bathrooms and ordering stuff from 300 miles away has its drawbacks...normally I'd find out something didn't work then have the time to re-order and wait.
TIA
A beefier shower will have more flow, so cope better - but you'll probably have to upgrade the cable to the consumer unit and fit a new shower, which won't have the pipe holes in exactly the same place etc, so no small effort...
I use a longer hose as it's great for the toilet clean.
As for ordering stuff, as long as there is a local Screwfix, you can probably get all you need same day!
I'm hoping it's an 8kw shower, which would (hopefully) mean a 10mm cable, which would allow me to swap it for up to 10kw I think, but I wouldn't be doing the electrics myself, given the location! Knowing my luck it's 7kw.
But every change seems to have a knock-on effect. Normally these are manageable with lots of swearing and ordering new stuff, but not when I have only a few days to get it all done,

Can't you just buy a bidet?
I’d anticipate a 7kW shower.
If it’s like the setup we had when we moved in it’ll be supplied by two parallel lengths of lighting T&E. I cut the supply to that as soon as I saw it.
Anticipate some nice cable costs and installation.
Good luck.
Mira do a range of electric showers for the care sector, lever controls, thermostatic, temperature limiter, long hose etc.
