I currently have an electric shower over a bath and want to rip the bath out and fit a quadrant enclosure and mixer shower.
This maybe a stupid question but can i use the current hot and cold feed from the bath to the new mixer shower?
Thanks
Yes, I've recently done just that.
Yes if it’s a combi boiler. No or maybe if it’s a hot water tank. You may need a pump for the hot water.
Ah thats ideal then thanks guys.
Yeah it's a new Worcester combi and after checking the specs it has enough pressure for a mixer
I did just that and installed a Grohe shower, very happy.
mixer shower from combi boiler is great. Takes about 30 secs for hot water if boiler is off, instant hot water if boiler is already on for central heating (boiler is upstairs in room next bathroom/shower tho). The old electric shower circuit in the consumer unit is now used for a 7kw electric car charger unit
I had that setup in my old flat - came originally with a bath and seperate taps - I just put in a shower curtain over the bath and tiled the wall to the ceiling - then dropped in a mixer with shower attachment. Loads of pressure and near instant hot water.
If you’re ripping out the bath and putting in a full enclosure you probably want the taps higher than they are now - so perhaps you need to move the pipes into the wall and extend them so they come out higher and you can stick a nice shower mixer in.

Sounds long, mine's 5-10 seconds to get up to temp (from boiler being off)

Water pressures and distances from boiler to outlet in the two properties will be major contributing factors...
Cold water...yes, no problem assuming you have decent mains pressure.
Hot water...maybe. Depends on pipe diameter and pressure of hot water feed. My hot water feed comes direct from the cylinder and I have a unvented / mains pressurised system. This was existing pipework from when the system was vented and had crap hot water pressure, but I'm pretty sure now I have an unvented system I have sufficient hot water pressure to just feed off the bath hot water tap. But before I didn't and hot water pressure was crap and I fitted a pump before replacing the whole system.
As long as you have a decent boiler, you'll wonder why you buggered about with leccy showers. 😁
