... for chopping firewood.
Any recommendations?
Cheers!

in the spirit of run whatcha brung.
i have a makita - was about 70 quid.
does the job.*
* previously used stihl at work and its no better no worse other than being attached to the mains.....
I like the lack of noise -as for cutting - thats a matter of staying on top of chain maintainance.
Bosch.
I have the Makita one from screwfix.
Killed a few chains but it's still going strong.
Screw fix have a 'Titan' listed which seems to get good reviews. I might go down that route.
the titan looks a good buy - screwfix stand behind their products.
a quick look at the bosch in bnq put me off - too much plastic in the mechanisms for me - and the one in the shop was broken...
Any recommendations for a cordless electric chainsaw?
Well in true STW style I was going to suggest petrol anyway, but if you need cordless, it's a no-brainer.
I have used an average corded black and decker (my dad's), seemed ok for occasional/lightweight use but it struggled on some tough old wood. Don't see the point of the extra cost and weight of cordless without the added performance of petrol.
I bought the Aldi one earlier this year, works well.
Only use it for chopping on a frame, not 'free-hand'.

Husqvarna 536Li. The rest are toys. Yes, it's what I have but I tried the others and spoke to a couple of arborists before purchasing.
Bought the screwfix titan one three winters ago for £60 for log burner purposes, does the job fine. Anything more powerful/expensive would be overkill and a waste of money
Cheers Chaps, Titan it is.
🙂

This.
I have a Titan from Screwfix.
4 years, 4 chains and 16 cubic metres of wood later it's still going, but probably toward the end of its serviceable life.
I'd buy another like a shot.
