Just to get it out the way: I know it's not a proper BBQ. I've got 2 proper BBQs with real man fire at my main home, this is for my holiday flat where we're not allowed to set fire to things like real men do.
With that out the way, I've seen that Weber have a range of electric BBQs, the Pulse x000 models. Are they any good? I can sort of get away with a gas BBQ, but the convenience of electricity is quite tempting...
We have a George Foreman grill. Not sure what the difference is apart from cooking indoors vs outdoors. You have to cook outoors with a traditional BBQ due to emissions etc but ultimately no difference to cookng indoors or outdoors. You can choose to eat outdoors or indoors whatever. The only benefit to cooking outdoors is wood or charcoal cooking and what that brings. You don't get that with electric cooking so just cook indoors and eat outdoors.
Hmm, I’m intrigued. Didn’t know electric BBQ’s were a thing, so can’t share any experience.
But, in theory at least, I wouldn’t dismiss it as quickly as wobbliscott. A bbq is two things to me: an event, a burnt sausage.
Cooking outdoors, that’s the event ticked. Can it burn a sausage - seems likely. I can achieve that in my electric grill but it’s an unpleasant experience indoors. I suspect this could achieve the authentic burnt sausage outdoors without smoking up the house.
I’m not joking btw, isn’t a barbecue all about burnt sausages? That’s my happy childhood memory.
As for authentic smoked/flame grilled meats, that’s a different ball game. So depends what you want to achieve OP.

And enjoying being outdoors socialising while cooking with everyone who is outdoors because the weather is nice.
As long as the electric ones have some sort or removable plate to protect the elements and allow for cleaning can't see an issue.
The electric BBQs have a grill, which lets the grease drip down rather than frying the food. The Foreman grills (afaik) are basically hot plates, not grills.
