Colleague took one of our clients to vote today.
Whilst in the polling station they both witnessed a chap come in with multiple polling cards. There was a hushed conversation with the official present and the chap was handed multiple ballots which he completed himself.
The two people who witnessed this don't want to get involved.
Is there any point in reporting this? Without witnesses, it seems a bit pointless but tbh it's really pissed me off.
Best way to ensure this is investigated?
Ta.
literally the first thing that came up on google
First thing I found too.
Just arranging my thoughts really.
I'll get onto them tonight.
Proxy voting?
Hopefully that's the case.
Just sounds like  a proxy vote to me.
i thought there was a limit to the number of people you could be a proxy for?
all my votes for the last 15 years have been c/o a local constituency party member as my proxy. they had to share out that responsibility.
oh seems to be 2 (so you could cast 3 votes at once), and more if they are close relatives.
I'd report it though if something looked a bit fishy or hush hush.
Maximum of two proxies, and if the person casting those votes is going to vote they should cast their own vote before the proxies - so if done properly they won’t have more that two ballots at a time.
