Hi,

A few years ago I signed up for an on-line fax service called eFax.

http://home.efax.com/uk/serviceshort.html?CMP=OTC-uk

I used the service for testing fax machines on Cisco IP phone systems but no longer require it.

I have tried phoning their customer services department on about a dozen occasions over the past three months but, despite holding for up to 20 minutes, have never had any of my calls answered.

There is no email address for the customer services department and the emails that I have sent to their sales email address requesting cancellation have not been answered.

They charge my credit card on a monthly basis and I am getting pretty annoyed as I have not not used the service for over six months.

Has anyone ever managed to cancel an eFax account and, if so, how?

The options I have for next steps is either to write to eFax at their postal address or I guess contact my credit card provider and instruct them to refuse any further charges. Will they be able to do this?

Any advice welcome.

Write to them and then try and cancel the credit card payment and wait for the phone call

Thanks for the responses so far.

I really do not want to have to cancel my credit card just to get rid of this and want to avoid possible scenarios such as a surprise visit from baliffs in a few months time if eFax take the view that they are still providing a service for which I am not paying and then sell on the "debt"

I think that I will write to them as recommended and then speak to my credit card company.

You don't have to cancel the card, just the repeat payment, no?
