You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
No one seems willing to publish any figures at the moment. Does anyone have any numbers they can share?
Can't help with that specific tariff, but Octopus GO tariff was 42.30p/kWh peak and 12p/kWh off peak for 4 hours only Vs the current standard rate of 33.03p/kWh.
Looked at it for charging our EV, and we'd need to charge it 4 or more times a month for that tariff to be worth it - which is about 8k miles a year. It didn't seem worth it for us.
I'd be interested is what the other rates are like.
See if you can find a 5+1 tariff, same idea but with a useful hour mid afternoon to top up electric heaters etc.
We had one when we lived in a flat with storage heaters a few years ago but can't find it online now, maybe you'd have to phone up and ask about it.
Unless you are within an existing fixed-tariff deal then you will simply be getting the price cap rate for both day and night.

Postcode lottery for pricing:
Eco 7 Electricity
Reduced day unit rate (Energy Price Guarantee discount):40.4 p/kWh
Reduced night unit rate (Energy Price Guarantee discount):16.79 p/kWh
Standing charge:49.52 p/day
Octopus standard day/night tariff for us was something like 39p/21p I think with 7hrs overnight. It went until 7.30am though so plenty of time to use electric heaters in the morning.
We now pay 40p/7.5p but that's only available for EV users, presumably because they can bank on selling you a lot.
I have 2 meters one is household electricity and the other is storage heaters and immersion heater it's on a timer that is on 7pm til 8am and and hour in the afternoon iirc and it was always cheaper but will only work in those set hours, now since eon took over npower they have helpfully set the price as the standard electricity, so I not only pay full price I cant use it at all times so the worst of both worlds, I looked in to economy 7 but they said the whole House would be on it and not just the heating/water setup and the prices were ridiculous it made no sense to swap even the call center bloke said its not worth it
we have a Economy 7 tariff - day we are on 0.39 and night we are on 0.23
we have been doing all washing and dishwashing for years during the night. Now we have an EV and do the same.
You cant ask for E7 to be retro fitted, its either there from years ago or not. I have a mate who's E7 is the wrong way around, low price electricity for 17hrs a day during the day :-)))

How do they know you are an EV user? I'm assuming because you have an EV socket fitted.....but after that?
Thinking (mildly) about our switch to EV ourselves but also an EV socket for guests, and I guess lower night rate for all our use would be a good starting point to make it worth it.
SSE/OVO need to pull their finger out and make our smart meter smart before any of this is relevant.
HOW MUCH? I have just had to fix mine for the next 12 months (micro-business tariff and no access to domestic though I probably use less than most households with about 5K Kwh per year). Best deal I could get was 58p /unit and 40p a day SC with many quoting £1.12 a kwh!! And no dual tariff options either. 🙁
Should get something off until April but after that who knows
@Convert - I’m in the same boat. They say the Secure Liberty 100 smart meter cannot be used for dual rate, but I’ve spoken with Octopus who say it can. Is it just OVO/SSE being crap?
Their own blog says it’s possible, but then when I called they said not possible.
44.2 and 11.2 or thereabouts with Scottish Power. Plus 46p standing charge.
Washing machine, dishwasher and car all go on overnight.
Eon here
49 peak
18 off peak
54 p standing
Does anyone know when the off peak hours start and finish
Can’t get any sense form eon
My rates seem higher than the rest
I thought they were all at the price cap

That's what I'm stuck on. I was 6 months in on a 2 year fixed deal with SSE but when OVO took the account over they refused to honour it (they don't really do Economy 7) so I'm stuck on the price cap. No point moving as everyone else is offering the same, if they'll actually quote!
Does anyone know when the off peak hours start and finish
My off-peak seems to be from midnight to 6am but then I've only got the clicking of the heater going on and off to go from as OVO won't tell me it either.
35p
19p
(and shrapnel). I have a little light-plug thing which is handy for knowing when the E7 kicks in. Seems to be from about 1:30-8ish.
Can you still get those clicky plug-socket timer things? Might start having the washer come on at crack of dawn etc.

With Octopus
Eco 7 between 12:30 and 7:30. 17.06p per kW
Daily rate 44.28p
Standing charge 47.04p
Based on the Wirral.
I have solar and a battery so circa £2 overnight for battery charge and either dishwasher or washing machine each night. Then it becomes my obsession to live on the battery until the Eco7 kicks in 🙂
Was speaking to somebody this week who is stuck on a domestic e-on tariff that was now around 65p off-peak. Made no sense to me when the avg cap is 34p
We are on a dual tariff but our peak hours are quite strange - 05:00-13:00, 16:00-20:00 and 22:00-24:00.
Does anybody know why this is?
Thats kind of similar to an eco 10 tarrif. Bit a rare beast these days.

Funny you should ask that. I think i actually posted a photo of it on here when i found it in an old box, asking - wtf is this?
STW consensus was that it was a thing. Specifically, a thing to calm kiddies who are scared of the dark and to aid nocturnal piss-goers on their trip to the toilet in the dark. It looks just like a plug but glows with a pleasant orange neon-like light when plugged in.
That's all I know. Probably a highly dangerous but cool 80's thing.
