Ebay: why are they ...

Ebay: why are they not allowing me into the sellers promotions? £1, 80% etc

My missus and I have 2 active accounts and sold literally hundreds of things over the years. But ALL of the recent promotions (£1, 70% off, 80% off etc) are not available to either of us? Both 100% positive feedback. Special offers not available probably for the last year. Any ideas why?

#Edit : these are the messages -

'Unfortunately, this promotional offer is not available to you.'

Or ' This deal has expired' when others can take it up (according to hukd)

@CP: thanks but that is the offer that brought this into focus!

"Unfortunately, this promotional offer is not available to you."

That and the glut of unwanted Christmas tat!

Maybe you've sold enough items that they thing you're a regular enough seller they don't need to tempt you. When did you last Dell something?

I've sold maybe 10 things over the last year, and am always eligible for the offers. I always accept them but don't sell that often

It looks to me like you haven't sold enough.

Seriously though, it's probably because you've sold as much, love not had an offer since before Christmas and sold about 400 quids worth in the last couple of months.

I’m waiting on a code too, still got plenty of things to sell. <br /><br />

As an aside, I listed some bike parts in November on an 80% off final sale fees. Had them on as BIN, one item sold between Christmas and New Year, but eBay took the full 12.8%. I contacted an actual human and it turns out the 80% off only applies to the first 30 days of the listing, not until it sells. To get the offer you have to end the listing and relist with another code.

Are you registered as a business seller?

If you’re waiting on a code, try leaving feedback for any purchases or sales which you haven’t already reported.  EBay seem to reward this behaviour with an offer.

They always work for me as soon as they are posted on HUKD.  I just activated the 80% off fees (which is the only one which works for me) based on the link from HUKD.

But for some people they don't activate until later in the week.

Not sure on the logic!

Not a business.

Timing doesnt seem to make a difference either.

I've found the links often don't work. They have several offers on and only one offer may apply, the rest aren't valid. Best to go into your messages or notifications and see if there is anything there then click through. I get them every couple of weeks, but only 70% off usually

I always get the 80% off fees, but not the £1 final value ones.

Just activated next weekends 80% off one 💪

Didn't work for me through hukd link above, but I Just went through my ebay messages to the last time they offered 80%. Clicked through, asked me to log in again and it accepted the offer. Starts on the 12th.

remember folks eBay will pass on data to HMRC automatically if you're selling 30 or more items a year (from 1st jan 2024) OR have total earnings over the equivalent of £1,770

so you may get a hmrc letter is which case you'll have to reply to the letter and/or submit self assessment.

I've been getting the 80% of fees offer regular as clockwork every other weekend, accepted and used a handfull.

This thread prompted me to check, and my last was for 15-18 December, nothing for 26-29 December as would be expected.

However, just I clicked on message relating to 15-18 December, and its activated for this coming weekend, 12-15 Jan.

Old thread but I just had this issue, an 80% off for this long weekend wouldn't activate.

Turns out I hadn't left buyer feedback for an item I sold a month ago. As soon as I did that the offer then activated. It did also ask me to login again in another tab so could have been that but I had tried numerous times in another one which was clearly logged in and showing me my account!

Has nothing to do with sales unfortunately, a colleague of mine keeps getting the discount offer every month sells nothing, I sell a few things haven't seen an offer in over a year. I complained to eBay (as I have concierge) they say it's random but clearly not otherwise I'd have at least one by now. Same issue reported on eBay forums. I had to concede and sell a couple of high value items for which I'd been waiting for offer, had sold a few low value in meantime but not helping. I always leave feedback too.

Slight hijack - I have been trying to list some shoes and it fails with a message saying there is a server issue. Created it twice but it failed both times and just saves them as a draft.

Anybody else having problems?

Same for me (not the shoes thing). People have oh do this that and the other but it makes no difference. Some just don't seem to get the 80% off anymore. 8 haven't had one for about 18 months. Pisses me right off!

Interesting, what lead you to try that?

I've not been able to get any of the seller deals for over a year now. Probably closer to two.

I had the same "It's random!" BS from EBay support.

I was just looking in the seller dashboard and noticed it so went and left the feedback. I'm sure I've had an 80% offer since I sold that though so perhaps not related. I seem to be getting them every 2 weeks at the moment!

Make sure you do activate one before you create a for sale listing, it doesn't retrospectively apply. I thought I had activated one before but hadn't, realised later after creating my listings so activated it but still got hit with full fees on the items that sold and they would have ordinarily been valid for it.

I seem to get 80% off every time i want to sell something, it’s as if they know, i always list something if they send an offer and only with an offer.
