Looking for some clarity here:
I've opened a return request with a reputable ebay company and their communication and info has been great and timely. However, they supply the return info address when the return request is opened but also offer an 'ebay returns label' at a cost of £3.05 charged through PayPal if I chose to use it... The pdf generated is indeed a Royal Mail Tracked 48 label with the relevant packing details and slip etc. I cant see how and when this is charged when printed.. It appears there is nothing stopping me printing the label off free of charge at home/work.
Is there any good reason to use this label? and, crucially, is this effectively Postage paid for my return? I am aware I have to pay for the return but, if I use this label and turn up at the PO am I still going to have to pay for return postage on top? In my case, its likely this return would cost more than £3.05 - closer to £10 I would imagine. I'm happy to pay for the ebay generated label for the convenience but NOT if I'm still going to be stung for full return postage...
its charged to the seller (i say this an eBay seller who offers free returns within 30 days)

hmmm, ok. it is indeed 30 day return you're right. The free part im not sure about.. I've clicked on the print label button TWICE in order to see it and now have the pdf label... it states clearly "you will be charged £3.05 if you use this label" but no transaction information or dialogue tells me im being charged.
so the £3.05 to print this label IS my return postage paid?
Yes, ebay will charge you £3.05 once you've used the label. You need to actually put it on your parcel then take it to the post office and get it scanned, otherwise it's just a barcode on a piece of paper 😉

right... I see now. The printing and sticking-on-bit I was sure on..David lol It's not entirely clear that the charge occurs at the point of post office scanning/processing (it says nowhere this is how the transaction occurs), and suggests to me at least, that this charge is for generating the label alone. Which thought seemed a bit rich.
Can I safely assume then that this cost then IS the generated returns postage cost (£3.05 in my case) and I WONT be charged on top? Is this the method ebay uses now to automatically generate return shipping costs?
