Sold some electrical goods on ebay on the 26th june which was fully working
Buyer responds with feedback on 10 july "very pleased"
Then sends message on 27th July that he works away a lot and had not checked item and has found it does not work and all the wires are disconnected inside
Opens case against me on 3rd August
What do you think

Its a scam. He either has a damaged item and when you say "return it" you get the damaged item back or he is after a discount

I have to half agree with Tandem, it sounds like it might be a scam. They have a knackered unit, they buy a working unit off Ebay. They then say the Ebay unit is knackered and send back their original knackered unit.
Does the unit you sold have any identifying marks?

Unfortunatly there are no identifying marks on the unit.
Will have to wait and see what the outcome is

tell em to go forth.. they have this thing in law called caveat emptor and he is responsible for ensuring the goods are satisfactory before making a payment once he has made a payment then its tough love. paypal/ ebay can say all they want but realistically they know the law as well

not sure this counts when the buyer can legitimately say the method of sale meant that inspection prior to purchase was not a posibility. Legal or not if payment was made through paypal they have you by the goolies if they so choose.

Can't imagine ebay would come down on his side after he left positive feedback but stranger things have happened.

right see this thread

Almost exactly the same circumstances, but the bloke lost his complaint because he had left positive feedback. I think you will be ok if he has left positive feedback..
