Just bought a 2nd hand tool of ebay and have found one of the attachments is 'bent' on delivery.
Advert said it was "used" & had surface rust, picture wasn't the best.
Now the tool may well still be useable with this attachment but will be a pain to use (possibly impossible, I can't really test it).
Emailed the manufacturer of said tool, and the replacement price is £30, I only bought the tool for £50.
So the attachment is made from chrome molybdenum steel, and I could try bending it back in the vice if worst came to worst?
Metal experts, would it take this, or will it just stress fracture and break?
What would you do, I actually want one of these tool, they don't come up often 2nd hand and there a cheaper (retail) version on ebay now going for more money than I paid ('cheap' new ones are £100+)...
Would you ask for money off, if so how much? Kit is four attachments come with one main piece.
Any other thoughts?

Gunna contact the seller & ask for a 1/5 off the final sale price (exc P&P), which I feel is not unfair....
no idea re repair. What is the tool fo and hom much stress? can you not heat it and bend it? the seller must have known it was bent i would want more of than you asked for in fact abut £30 off

We specialise in workshop tooling and machinary and may well have what you need in through the back...
Junkyard - I don't believe the seller even looked at it, as it still had an old bearing attached & 'she' sells lots of bizarre stuff going by her history. A quick clean up and a decent picture should have brought a much better price.
I don't think she about to refund £30, and her asking for it back isn't an option I want to take.

I'll have a look at the weekend - there are many many boxes of 'stuff'. You never know....
Although I reckon you'll be able to heat the bugger up and straighten out without too much hassle.

Though off-hand is it easy to get hold of larger sized collets for them? (not cadging for more freebies BTW)
Whilst searching for a 'new' unit, I stumbled on a extra set of collets you could buy, of course now I can't locate them for love nor money.
I only ask as I have oil seal that was a complete ****tard to remove, and thought, a bigger collet on one of these tools would have done the job much easier.
Back to the point, am I being an ar$e asking for a partial refund on this?
No, it wasn't as described, though that fault doesn't really constitute "faulty", it'll still work unless you snap it tryingto straighten it.
its made of the same sort of steel as a bike frame which will take a hell of a lot of bending before it snaps (I had a rear mech hanger straightened after being bent backwards 90 degrees and outwards 90 degrees).
but yes it probably isnt as described.
I know we have a load of collets back there, brand new, never used, still in original oiled packing material....
