Got beaten by £2 on a set of forks today but had to pay £10 more than the next highest bid on the frame I bought, I thought there was a minimum difference dependant on current price?

If the winning bidder already had a maximum bid of say £250, and it was sitting at £230 you bid£ £248 and it goes straight to the max bid of the other user.

Hope that makes sense!

Yeah, kindoff. I had put my max bid in at 7 this morning they put theirs in 15 mins before the end of auction this afternoon. eBay have sent me an explanation. I'm just pissed at losing.

I never bid a round amount, sometimes you get lucky and win by a few pence.

that if i want to say pay £50 I will bid say £52.36

Its not like i will care about the extra £2 is it

The other thing is you know what they beat you by not what their highest bid was- they may have been willing to go £15 more for all you know

Yup, the only way you know what they maximum bid was is if it's less than the minimum increase of that bid range.

eg you bid £12.40 but it goes for £12.43
