If I make an offer on an auction that also has a best offer option, does that kill the auction until it's been accepted or rejected? Sure a bloke at work suggested this happened to him.

Offers can only be placed until the first bid is placed. If you make an offer before the first bid, your offer remains valid, but you cannot place another order counter offer after a bid is placed. It doesn't in any way stop people bidding or offering.

Ah, righto. Thanks. It's getting close to the end of the auction, so I probably just wait it out and whang a bid in at the last minute.
