You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've responded to an ad for a camera , messaging the seller, asking if they'd accept a £120 offer for it.
They have said they'll take £150 for it if I pay direct via PayPal and they'll waive the postage. This seems reasonable to me.
My spidey senses aren't tingling and their reason for selling seems legit (bought a better camera, which shows on their buying history). Their feedback is 100 % positive too and they've been on there for 7 years.
Is there anything else I should check or consider to make sure my hard earned doesn't go down the drain?
Thx
For peace of mind offer to pay their PayPal fees (4%..?) for them?
One forum I used to frequent used to pretty much de facto use this; PayPal gift or buyer pays fees - made sense.
Don't pay someone you don't know by PayPal gift.
+1 for the don't do paypal gift
seems they havent asked for pp gift, just paypal payment (to save ebay fees, as they will then end the auction)
seems okay to me
Like above done this loads but always paid the fees my self!!!
Get them to amend the ebay price and use the buy it now option .
All covered then
Thanks everyone.
Looks like the easiest way is normal PayPal with me picking up the fees.
Happy New Year all!
The deed is done.
Paid via PayPal and paid the fees. Seller seems genuine and has sent me pics of the item boxed up, addressed and ready to go....
Nervous.....
+1 for paypal with you footing the fees - they don't lose out that way, and you get the paypal "protection".
That's exactly what I thought, as long as the seller comes good!
Just a follow up to this, the camera turned up the next and is great. As described and really good condition.
Reassuring considering you hear so much about morons and people taking the mick on e-bay.
