I've only accommodated for UK postage in my listing, A mini hifi system that weighs 4 kg - using eBay Shutl, this comes to £6.29. If the Spanish person wins the auction, what happens about the shipping costs?

Thanks for any advice.

I'd just be in cancelling off their bid around now, unless you think its worth the hassle

If you use the global shipping programme, you only need to pay for it to get to the uk dispatch warehouse. Onward costs are covered by eBay.

Hopefully you've selected the 'use eBay global shipping' option. Then as rockhopper70 said, you post it to eBay in the UK and they send it on to your customer.

Actually they'll be covered by the buyer.

They buyer will for pay, for example, £16.29. You get your £6.29 for shipping it to eBay's distribution centre and then eBay take £10 for sending it onwards to the buyer.

if you are UK only then they shouldn't be able to pay as they wont have a UK paypal address. you'll need to log it as a non paying bidder and then get your fees back after 4 days

you can mutually agree to cancel they sale but that does give the buyer an option to leave negative feedback.

I would change my buyer preferences for future sales

It's worth noting, however, that I've sold a fair amount of stuff to Europe through the global shipping programme and it generally makes higher prices than UK only. I've never had any issues, although I guess that past results are no indication of future performance...

Just make sure the bidder knows and accepts this.

When you set up your listing there's an option for UK postage only and you can block bidders from anywhere else.

Not obvious on their crappy apps, unfortunately.

I put something in a while back as UK only but it defaulted to Global Shipping Programme too so I did only have to post within the UK. El blokio never paid up anyway so it ended up going to Macclesfield on a second chance offer.

I had the same happen to me - they eventually cancelled their bid.

Mostly because they told me how much it should've cost to post if I used the post office. I don't use the post office so rather than the £4.00 they wanted to pay, I was going to charge them £8.00. They were unwilling to pay £8.00, & threatened me with negative feedback... As I've got too much time on my hands at the moment this escalated to about £80.00 when I told them the cost for time, fuel & parking to go to the post office to get a quote, then get them to approve the quote & go back to the post office.

They never paid & left negative feedback. I reported them to ebay who sided with me & removed their feedback. All over an old PS1 game.
