Pursuing the BBC news site earlier came across a repairability article and a company called EBAC, quick search indicated a fair amount of love for the dehumidifiers on STW but they also do washing machines at what seem good prices, anybody got one?

Unfortunately I have already bought a new Bosch but EBAC would have been in the running if I had known about them at the time.

didn't know they made them! If it's anything like my experience with their dehumidifiers though, the old one bought many years ago will have been perfect but the newer version will develop a weird fault and constantly need resetting 🤣

Bit of a weird name, doesn’t exactly trip of the tongue.

We bought one last year when our old machine died. I actually first saw the recommended on here, mainly on the basis of the 7 year warranty they were offering at the time.

It washes clothes, reasonably quiet, has a load of different cycles that you only use two of. Much like every other washing machine I've owned at the 6 month mark tbh!

Never heard of them but if my John Lewis tumble drier is anything to go by AEG are worth looking at if you want good spares support 8 years down the line.

Anyone else got an EBAC washing machine? I'm looking to buy, and their in my short list.

Granted this is an old thread, but just coincidentally google referred me here after searching there. Interesting how often search engines point me at STW.

Yep, the cheaper Miele's are on the list too.

Though difference like for like is £140. Miele only has 2yr warranty, EBAC is 7years.

Depending on your politics and how partisan you are, it’s worth noting EBAC is an enthusiastic Brexiteer company.

Personally I try to vote with my wallet when I can - hence I now refuse to buy from MyProtein or Probikekit as the founders are rabid Tory donors.

I also refused to buy an EBAC washing machine on the grounds of their Brexityness.

Your mileage may vary.

I am very interested, I run quite a few domestic rentals and we normally go bosch or gorenje (10 year warranty), bosch have been most reliable and easiest to fix and good warranty. But these do look interesting.

Granted re the founders politics. But could that be partially offset by being owned by a not for profit trust. See here....

LG washers are almost completely repairable at home and would be my first choice.

I can't quite get the politics of the makers, are they goodies or baddies?

Miele only has 2yr warranty

although that's only notionally important. Ebac seems and exception but most warranties are parts only - you still have the pay the labour and have the inconvenience of it being out of action and arranging a repair.

Miele have a reputation of just not breaking, being built for a 20+ year working life. Ours is 6 years old and so far trouble free. My wife's mothers Miele dishwasher went through 3 families (grandmother to mother to daughter) and finally died after 25 years.

been running EBac washer for a year, good range of programmesand you can set your own custom programme too. Waranty was/is seven years parts and labour, repairs(none needed) dealt with by local firm who supplied it or by Ebac engineers. Gets used 5/6 times a week, all good so far.

AEG are worth looking at if you want good spares support 8 years down the line.

Main bearing on our AEG washer drier failed after 7.5 years. Probably a £15 part, but the whole machine's knackered now due to the sealed drum.

Bosch/seimens have a parts availability for 10 after a model is no longer made, regularly able to get parts for 10 years plus, even 20 in one case!
However, our Meile is 16 years, never needed parts or repair, just as well about the only brand we don't have a contract to service/repair.
Mr Ebac, proper gammon, avoid

Just for the record, I went with Bosch in the end. In part due to the owner, and in part due to price.

We bought a Miele dishwasher from ao.com earlier this year. Door mechanism broke second time we opened it. Miele said they would send someone to fix it in 2 weeks time. We hadn't even plumbed it in, just took it out of the box. Ao were great and took it away. Replaced it with a Bosch that was £100 cheaper but looked a lot better. Not going to bother with Miele again.
