We will be staying at Moorlinch so need a pub for an excellent Sunday roast and then somewhere really posh for Mrs Zips birthday.
Recommendations please.

We're a bit far north so usually eat on the other side of the Mendips... so bookmarking for future reference.

If you are passing / in the area, the Rising Sun at Pensford did excellent homemade roasts pre covid and the garden seats fill up in good weather before midday. Food also looks excellent at the Waldegrave Arms at East Harptree but we've only been in for drinks.

For posh, Chew Valley has/had The Pony & Trap Michelin star restaurant but it's being refurbished and reopening July 22 as The Pony Chew Valley. Presume that's too late.

In addition to the above, 28 Market Place in Somerton is good for food. There was a stunning place in Fifehead, but is now permanently closed. Barrington Boar in Barrington is a good 1/2 hour drive, but has excellent food and I think gets a mention in the latest Michelin (no star yet).

The Ring o’Bells in Moorlinch isn’t bad, and don’t bother with a trip to Bridgwater.

The Swan in Wedmore is pretty good for posh. I would imagine the Sunday roast would be good too, but not been myself.
