...safely.
I have two crap photographic softboxes with LED bulbs. I bought them for photography ages ago and found them not up to the task. So they got repurposed into kind of rave/disco lights in my music room 🙂
I quite like throwing them on for a brief second at certain points in the music during impromptu post-pub mini-raves. Like literally for a split second at the end of a breakdown, flooding the darkened room in bright white light. Cooler than it sounds. A bit like a strobe. Anyway, the issue is that they're mounted on the ceiling so reaching up to flick them on/off is not happening because a: I'm not tall enough, and b: I'd have to control them both individually.
So they are both plugged into a two-gang extension and then into a wall socket. This at least allows me to control them both simultaneously but I still have to bend down to the socket and the switch is not designed ergonomically to be used in this manner. What I need is a kind of dimmer switch that I can kind of mash with my palm, preferably situated up near the decks.
For some reason I seem to have a mental block on how to achieve this, being quite keen to not electrocute myself or set fire to my friends. Well not all of them anyway.
This kind of thing -

I'd do it with smart bulbs, but.
they are both plugged into a two-gang extension and then into a wall socket
Two daisy-chained extensions, one from the socket to you and a second back up to the lights?
The quinetic range of wireless receivers and switches from tlc direct would work. The switch is a push button as opposed to a normal light rocker switch too.
Two daisy-chained extensions, one from the socket to you and a second back up to the lights?
That takes care of half the problem. But need a push or rotary switch in the middle.
Could you just use a remote control socket. I use one to turn the vacuum on for my saw so not sure how fast it'll go on and off but it works pretty well. Only a tenner or so to try and very safe.

Could you just use a remote control socket
Huh, that could be ideal if it's instant. I had no idea such things existed. Might get one anyway and see.
No idea if it's actually any good but something like this might work in the middle of two daisy chained extension leads
just wire them through this, then into the plug?

That green one looks ideal. Especially if it's only on when pushed down. Is it safe to wire multiple things into it though?
