That being the case (believable?), nicotine being an appetite suppressant, obesecity being a major widespread and growing health hazard, should us fat people with no self control take up smoking E cigarettes for the good of our overall health? Discuss. 😯
No 'put the cream bun down fatty' comments please. 😆
Amphetamine is also an appetite suppressant.
Take your pick.
Actually, speed would possibly be more effective in regulated doses as you'll also be needing to do lots of active exercise with it.
So, I'd personally prescribe you that rather than an e-cig.
No. I see plenty of chubby smokers too. 🙂
But relating to the story that was in the news yesterday...
In all seriousness, I'm usually pro-prescription for stuff that might save the NHS money, but given the amount that smokers save by going over to e-cigs, I think they shouldn't be available on prescription. If one can afford to smoke (even roll-ups), one can certainly afford an e-cig and liquids. The cost is a fraction! Also, were they to be available on prescription, the kind of stocks needed could only be filled by the big players in the market (probably)...the likes of e-lites, etc. A quick google of who owns these companies (often Big Tobacco) tells me whose pockets would be lined.
Bit early to say they are 95% less harmful
I'm assuming animal studies have been done, still no one knows what the effects of a lifetime on ecigs will be
That said, fags are grim hopefully this will be the end of them!
Where's the espliffs at I wonder?
I'm still rather confused by e cigs. Fags I get, addictive etc.
But e cigs makes no sense. Would the majority of users be former smokers? Is there a fair degree of activity replacement going on?
Lots of things make little sense, but there's usually some reasoning to be found.
But smoking is cool.. why else would you do it?
But e cigs makes no sense.
Indeed. It's amazing there are that many people using them!! 😀

I was chatting to an intelligent 15yr old yesterday and it seems that lots of his friends from school have already given up real cigs for e cigs...
Where's the espliffs at I wonder?
Very easy to make your own liquid* and , as it is odourless and you use the same ecig machine, perfectly fine to use in public and at work.
Obviously it is not legal to do this and I am not advising etc.
*A mate of mine does it but it takes about half a day to make the liquid
@piemonster
Nicotine is addictive and nice for the users this is just an easier way of delivering this to users.

II think id rather persuade Tobacco companies to shift markets (and reduce cig production) than have them keep all their weight behind making and selling cigs.
Main downside as I see it is that you still look a complete div puffing away on your ipod. That and because it's not cigarettes it's fine to blow the raspberry vapour all over me. Minging. Patches if you want to stop or GTFO. 😉

Fair comment. I'd just rather not give them another income stream off the back of the taxpayer myself. They're making enough money pushing tobacco in emerging markets in Africa and Asia.
See loads of kids "smoking" 'em, very worrying I think, we'll just have to wait and see how messed up people's lungs are in 10-15 years. Hopefully they'll be banned in all the places smoking is soon, I ****ing hate having to walk through clouds of vape (?), keep it away from me and my kids please.
This will be another stw church meeting then? 😆
I thought all e-cig users were former smokers (either using them instead as they're a bit healthier or as a stepping stone to quitting). I guess it makes sense though that some people may be taking up e-cigs without having smoked normal cigs first (as in if people are stupid enough to take up normal smoking in this day and age they're must be people out there that take up e-cigs to).
I can't say I mind them in public myself, some of the flavoured smoke can be a bit cloying but can't say I've ever had to walk through clouds of it.

You realise vape (?) is just that dont you? Wont someone think of the children!
Why should I have to suffer it?

Check out the Snoop Dogg G pen;

You mean something other than clean fresh air? That's why nobody but the user wants to breathe it.
Why should I have to suffer it?
You shouldnt, but your post of 'keep it away from my kids' suggested you believed it had some kind of affect on them, other than a could of vapour. I agree my gut reaction on passing a cloud of 'vape' is to recoil, but there is no reason to as its not smoke and its essentially no different to walking through any persons exhaled breath, be that minty toothpaste fresh or a beer propelled burp.
but there is no reason to as its not smoke and its essentially no different to walking through any persons exhaled breath
As a sometime vaper, I wouldn't bet my life on that. Whilst it's vapour, it's not water vapour. No idea if it's harmful, but I can understand if people aren't comfortable with it and I'd not vape indoors except for in my own home.
I see it as a stop gap, a temporary thing to break the habit of cigarettes. A few months of vaping is preferable to years of smoking and it's good to see that the NHS recognise this.
In other smoking survey related news, [s]the usual bedwetters [/s] people objecting to vaping are 100% as predictably boring, whiney, sanctimonious and self-righteous as the ones objecting to people smoking in beer gardens.
Who knew?
There's simply no pleasing some people
Or maybe there is?
if we just all lived such perfect, faultless lives as they did, all did what they said, and banned absolutely everything they don't like.
Vaping has a lot of very powerful enemies and it's quite disparate as an industry; there aren't any huge powerhouses (mostly small independent manufacturers and retailers)
With companies like Philip Morris and British tobacco funding "research" papers with the obvious agenda, there will always be "reports" which put it in a terrible light.
Vaping isn't ideal, the hardware is hit and miss and some of the juices are made in peoples back rooms without regulation. I'm far from convinced that it's unharmful but I'm 100% sure that it's many, many times less so than tobacco.

That's my take on it too FWIW. And those that are saying keep it away from me really do need to get a grip. Unless you live in a cave with no utilities and live off the land, chances are you'll be pumping far more harmful crap into your own childrens lungs than a random bit of nicotine vapour. 🙄
So less harmful than fags but more harmful than not smoking. Keep them away from me then, same rules for fags and preferably not in public places. We don't need more addicts.
And those that are saying keep it away from me really do need to get a grip.
Ah I dunno. I can understand why people don't want it indoors (pubs, cinemas etc). Outdoors is tough shit though.
I'm no bigger or smaller then when I smoked. Still a big lad 😳
The E-Cigs are good for getting you off the tabs (Worked for me) but I can't see why you'd use them long term. Regardless what the hand wringers on here will bleat when you're a smoker smoking is ace. E-Cigs calm the cravings but don't replace a real tab so there's no point.
I would rather breathe in 'vape' than some of the f'king awful reek of deodorant and perfume that some people seem to think it's acceptable to gas an office with
As a none smoker I agree. Just can't see why as a smoker you'd stay on e-cigs.
"Vape" is the verb ninfan! 🙂
I'm not a fan of perfumes and air-fresheners so scented 'vape' goes in the same category for me.
Can we all just agree to keep our odours to a minimum please?
Unless someone can create a Sunday roast scented one, in which case the more vapers the merrier...
I started smoking from an early age and continued smoking into my early 40's 😥
When I worked in the middle east for 6 years I was on over a 100 a day ! due to the stress and sometimes the long periods of boredom endured, so I was a VERY heavy smoker !
When these e-cigs things 1st came out I tried one as I needed to stop and I have now stopped smoking for nearly 5 years so yes they do work but I think its mostly a case of 'wanting to quit'
I'm probably more fitter now than I ever have been and not far of 50 and started enduro racing and the worse thing is the amount of money I wasted/spent.
