Looking for a nice DWA spot in the Holy Yorkshire Empire.
Criteria;
Good food.
Good beer.
Good wine.
Good walking in glorious Yorkshireshire nearby/from the front door.
Comfy bedroom with a suitably appointed bed.....
Budget? Well, am pretty open for the right thing in the right place.

So, what have you got, folks?

Not sure what DWA means.

However, The Angel at Hetton has great food. Never tried the beds.

Slumming it Cap'n? 😉

Oh, I was in your part of the world today - Salisbury Plain - enjoying the sunshine and also a huge flock of birds. Amazing patterns and shapes and what a cacophony, even the cattle were startled. A couple of faux-x-4's were even watching the spectacle.

Haven't been on the Plain in weeks! 🙁 Too much work travel recently. More to follow, as well..

DWA = Dirty weekend away, BTW.....

DWA = Dirty weekend away

I assumed it was something like that. Urban Dictionary was unhelpful.

The Angel is worth the hike up from the south for the food alone.

Chevin Country Park Hotel outside Otley is very nice.

They have cabins in the woods, the food in the restaurant is great, and walking on the Chevin is cracking.

Good start, folks, thanks as ever.

Ton's suggestion looks pretty tidy. I reckon he's a man who likes a good feed and a good bed, so that's looking good....!

Will look in to all properly while waiting for my flight tomorrow.

Peel Castle B'n'B of Grand Designs fame, a few poncy London friends have stayed there and loved it, I also paid for my Mum to stay there for her 70th. Recently it has become common knowledge that they are doing BnB to pay for all the restoration, so may be difficult to book short notice. The top floor is excellent, but there are other fantastic bedrooms.

Things in the local would be Skipton Castle, Harrogate, Bolton Abbey, Lake District, Hawes (SemerWater were we go waterskiing in the summer), Ribble Viaduct on the Dales train.

Another vote for the Star at Harome - beautiful pub serving lovely ale and fabulous food in a wonderful setting. Close to Castle Howard for the Brideshead Revisited experience. Also handy for a day out in York or driving through either the Dales, NY Moors or Vale of York.

Another suggestion is the Devonshire Arms near Bolton Abbey - handy for Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales and not too far from Harrogate - http://www.thedevonshirearms.co.uk/

Another suggestion would be one of Harrogate's hotels - perhaps the Old Swan Hotel where Agatha Christie disappeared to for a while - http://www.classiclodges.co.uk/The_Old_Swan_Hotel_Harrogate - or Rudding Park on the outskirts - http://www.ruddingpark.co.uk/

Hellifield Peel doesn't have the beer and restaurant, Me poncy London friends went to the Box Tree in Ilkley and The Angel at Hetton. Bit of a fail tho (I refused to go), neither do fish n chips n mushy pees.
