Sent off for a renewal weeks ago, i had to do it by post.

I have heard nothing, the cheque hasn't been processed.

Does anyone have any idea what the current turnaround time is?

Sent my paper form away on 6th Feb, back on the 18th.

D1 renewal so no photo or money involved.

There's a page on the DVLA website that tells you what date of received applications they are processing at the moment. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/dvla-coronavirus-covid-19-update#processing-dates-for-paper-applications

I did mine by post last autumn and it took about 14 weeks

Yeah, my dad filled a paper form in as he refused to use his computer to do it. It took 3 months for them to return the form as he hadn't ticked a box. Another 3 months to send the licence when box was ticked.

We are about 18 months into trying to get my mum's bus entitlement removed so they can renew her license so she can surrender it for a French one...... She's become quite aquatinted with her bike over there.

I did mine at the beginning of December, did it in the post office due to passport out of date as well so couldn’t do it online, extra bit of money, but it arrived within a week. I was surprised.

Just had mine back from a medical renewal, took 10 months of which the first 5 it was literally just sat in a pile doing nothing.

(the nice person I spoke to admitted that they were so behind on old ones that they were dealing with new arrivals first, because they could still be done within the terms of service while the old ones were hopelessly late)

Applied online for change of address and renewal with photo/signature from my passport maybe 3 weeks ago, and it arrived a couple of days ago. I was amazed.

Also cheque what is that? I just paid online there and then.

They have a big list of reasons why you can't do it online. I wasn't even allowed to do it at a post office. It's really annoying if you get stuck and have to post it. It's more expensive and way slower. I even had to get a postal order ffs.

Got mine back today after doing online renewal last Saturday. Was my routine 3 year medical renewal with no changes in any details.
Must have good luck as my passport only took 9 days last month as well.

Got a letter reminding me about mine expiring, logged on and sorted it in about 15 mins - had to link it into my passport so they could use the same photo so it was a bit of a faff but all easy enough. Paid online.

Got the new licence in the post about 10 days later.

Yep. Online is way quicker. Not much use if they won't let you do it online and have to post it

I did mine about 3 months ago, did it via the post office, including new photo, had the new one back in a week, was really impressed, and by the sounds of it really lucky as well

My Mrs lost hers recently, replacement arrived about a week later, renewed at the same time to a full 10 years.

Cost a couple of quid more than a straight forward renewal.

So if anyone's ever in a hurry for a license, just "lose" it

Wasn't far off 3 months but there's no way of contacting anyone about it. Even got a couple of letters warning that licence was expiring.

Same as other post office users, had my new licence within a few days.
It was totally painless apart from the 60mile round trip to the nearest participating PO.
Would have done it online but I don't have a valid passport for the first time in my adult life.

Similar experience doing mine through the Post Office last year, really impressed. Trying to summon up the enthusiasm to do the passport now.
