Dont mind paying a few quid for a good un' and by a few i mean < £20 !

I could do with this too.

I recently bought a NAS and a popcorn hour box - the intention being to put all my DVDs/CDs on the NAS and put the discs in the attic. Unfortunately, the open source software I was recommended won't allow me to copy my recently purchased copy protected DVDs. This was Handbrake.

I use Slysoft's AnyDVD to strip the copy protection and DVDShrink to copy/compress the DVD to hard disc.

Unfortunately AnyDVD is now paid for by biannual subscription instead of the one off payment it was when I got it but you can download it and use free for 21 days which may well be enough for you to copy your existing DVDs.

For free (and probably better than the paid alternatives)...

Install VLC (www.videolan.org/vlc) first and then install handbrake (www.handbrake.fr)

Handbrake should use the dvdcss library from VLC.
