bt vision has been alright for me but just do not useing it other than recording TV series etc and the odd ESPN football game. want dump it untili have watched all the Curb Your Enthusiasm that are on the demand section
so if i cancel can i still use the box as a plain old recorder?

no, they are evil. they goofed up my direct debit and I couldn't even access the programmes I'd recorded. I'd love to get shot of BT!
There was a post on their site a year or so ago that said they were changing it so that a broadband account isn't required but that has never materialised.
same question for sky + - if you are out of contract I know you can just get a "freeview" card for about 10 pounds. But does the Sky plus function still work if you stop paying a subscription to Sky?

i know a bump would get some answers from the evening crowd....so keep it or move to Sky(so do not want to do that)or get a TV card for PC?
You can pay to keep the Sky+ box as a recorder if you don't subscribe to Sky TV, but to be honest, its not much cheaper than a basic Sky package anyway.
The Vision box, you can at least take the hard drive out and use it in your PC...200GB if I remember correctly 🙂
