Ours has a 5 year gurantee with it so no need to at the minute. However, installers I spoke to said they dont tend to go wrong in the first 5 years anyhow.

I'll be joining the British Gas scheme when the warranty runs out. Its saved me a fortune over the years in other houses, and it means the boiler gets serviced every year. OK not cheap for a service if nothing else goes wrong, but boilers do always tend to go wrong at some point.

Think my house insurance needs it to be serviced yearly. Last policy did anyway but changed providers.

Have been in the British Gas plan for a few years. Boiler and fires have never gone wrong. In fact the engineer picked up and remedied some installation faults with the flue on our current house). Proper training costs money, and an ounce of prevention...

our guarantee only covers the boiler if it's serviced every year...

Pay about £60 for an annual bolier service here (3 year old boiler) but it tends to be an inspection and brush out rather than anythign actually being done.

We had the BG plan for a couple of years - guy did the "service" in about 10 minutes and from what I saw, did nothing apart from a clean. I questioned him and he said "they call it a service but its only a safety check these days"!

We cancelled.

The small print also had clauses about boilers older than 7 years and that if they can't be repaired, BG only contribute £1k towards a new model (can't remember if you had to buy their installation service).

Haven't paid for years, I just spend the money when it stops/fails with my friendly Engineer. Feels better value.
