We need a new vac and want cordless - what's the next best thing to a decent corded vac and how close do they come in performance? Thanks

Bought the vax blade 2 40v direct from Vax. to get the "free" tools

I shall report back on performance once mrs b receives it for her birthday ( it was what she wanted )

Oh goody another what cordless blah blah... thread. Well, my standard response is the Makita backpack vacuum. Good enough for them...good enough for YOU

I have just got a Dyson Motorhead and I think its bloody amazing - after years of using a corded vacuum (and having a Dyson handheld) I was stunned by how much dirt it picks up (even down to very fine grains of grit/dirt from the carpet that has always been regularly cleaned). No idea how it performs against others but I am still very impressed with it.

And I think I have become addicted to cleaning - even my kids have told me to stop cleaning all the time LOL!

Nature abhors them, apparently.

I bought a Vax direct from them as well. It turned up with a 'not working, band slips' sticker on the box and hey presto, it didn't work and the band slipped (and caught fire).

Wasn't terribly impressed as they'd just shipped out a returned faulty unit without a) fixing it and b) bothering to remove the fault label.

the thing I find amazing about Dysons is that despite being described as filterless they have the bloody things - the cordless one we have has 2! - went to shop today to get a new filter (I've washed it but unit still switches off with it in, runs ok without) and shop had no stock and said having problems getting them - presumably they are a consumable that doesn't exist in the Dyson system because the vacs don't have them and its crap anyway

Recently bought a Dyson V10 cordless. Works great, way better than anticipated.

Pricey but good, unlike the Vax we had before which was pricey but crap!

I have the 24v Vax blade and its been great - so far.

There is a new one thats more powerful for about £249 - that one must be really powerful!

I tried several vacuums before I bought my Dyson Motorhead and none of them appeared significantly more powerful and I certainly couldn't stomach spending nearly double the money for a bit more power – admittedly the more expensive ones are significantly lighter but I am all grown up now and I can cope with the 4kg mine weighs.
