That backing singer thread made me think of loads of songs but many of them weren't backing singers, but duets.
Post a duet what is good and a bit different (or not).
Here's one from me (JAMC featuring the delicious in every way Hope Sandoval out of Mazzy Star)
(for those unsure of how to post an embedded video, just copy the short/share url and paste it without tags. This may be difficult on a tablet, as I found the other day, but I'll fix it for ya in the next post if I get there in time!)
Chaka Demus and Pliers!

Coyote's one

< To fit in with the general taste of the forum
😀
Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty
It's probably a good thing I've never learnt to link video.... How about.....
Elton John and Kiki Dee... Don't go breaking my heart.
Guilty pleasuretastic
Vocals by Daniel Tompkins & Jordan Bethany
My work here is done...
and, of course
@bikebouy ...your work here may be done ..but..you chose the wrong Diana Ross duet .
This one is better 😁
Jarvis Cocker with Miki Berenyi/Lush
This always takes me back to a specific time during uni days - I'd gone back to the girlfriend's after a club; at the time I was suffering pretty bad insomnia, and had laid awake most of the night (post-coitally) next to her with the radio on and this played. Despite not really being an Indie fan, it stood out.
Love the 'Loaf!
I think people have got their Sinatras mixed up though, this one did the best duets (worth watching til she does her little dance)...
This one is quite bonkers
and this slightly less obvious one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a01QQZyl-_I
loads more where those came from
and this slightly less obvious one
Only less obvious than bikebouy's! 😆
hodgynd wins the most obvious award! Been waiting for that one.
[s]Can't believe bikebouy has forgotten the one I hate more than all the hated things in all the world of hatred. Prize to the person who gets it[/s]. 😀 (Withdrawn. It's already been posted!)
[s]I guess..[/s]
[s]George Michael, Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me[/s]
Withdrawn too...
Edit; sorry phone people, its Johnny and June doing Jackson
Eh !? ...
I've won a prize ?
Gimme gimme gimme oh boy oh boy ..how exciting !
Or at least it would be if I knew what you were on about ...

I'm gutted 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Can’t believe bikebouy has forgotten the one I hate more than all the hated things in all the world of hatred. Prize to the person who gets it. (Withdrawn. It’s already been posted!)
Well don't leave us in suspense. You posted the one my money would have been on yourself (now you can play the guessing game 😈)
I'm not making anybody guess! It's Meatloaf. God I hate Meatloaf. Almost as much as Elton John.
Dez.
I didn't think that too many folks had heard of White Moth Black Butterfly ( Daniel Thompkins / Jordan Bethany ) ..or that it was that obvious ..but then again I have been pushing the group on just about every music related thread I've participated in ..but it's a beautiful track 😉😁..
If anyone ever does take the time to play it ..let me know what you think !
( I won't hold my breath ..)
I'm standing right beside you in the line for Meatloaf haters ...the most overrated windbag in the history of rock music ...
Confused! I meant this one Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush -Don't Give Up
I looove the not obvious ones, even if I don't like em..! 😀
I know mate ..I was pulling your chain..😁
It is kind of obvious..but didn't think it was that obvious ..
What my prize ?
I'm gutted not to have won.
I shall sulk until I get bored...
..
..
..
Done, happy again.
This is one of those songs that I've had for years but didn't realise how great it was until recently...
(Pastels - Nothing to be done)
And on a smiliar shambolic, lo-fi goosebump-inducing tip...
(Vaselines - Son of a gun)
Not a massive fan of either artists TBH, but I think the tone and timing are impeccable..
Have we had one with 2 ladies yet? (Oh yeah Bjork and Anhoni, but he was a boy at the time I think!) Let's rawk
Sisters:
Brothers:
Frenchies:
Merkins:
See meh in mi heels an ting:
Salif & Cesaria:
Neneh & Youssou:
**** knows how you post a video these days...
(didnt work oin preview but miraculously works when posted)
Just post the link, you don’t get a full image in preview before it posts.. all you see is the link.. then once posted the vid appears like majik..
Love that Neneh Cherry track ..in fact the full album " Man "
Steven Wilson & Ninet Tayeb.."Pariah "..on another thread this album " To The Bone " was my favourite release from 2017
Probably not what you had in mind, but MBV's boy/girl vocal thing was and still is quite special...
Might not be the backing vocals thread, but still needs more Kate Pierson...
Speaking of Iggy....
As a massive Alison Krauss fan and Robert isn't too bad either. Saw them live a few years ago and is was bloody brilliant
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1HAPGl-KPi0
Shatner and Joe Jackson, despite the title...
I’m surprised people, there are some pretty good tracks in here.. Certainly opened my ears to the sounds.. 🤯🎟
Why would you post an Uncluded track that isn't Bats? That's mental.
Laura Jane Grace and Tegan Or Sara, love the way these two interweave, like the occsaionally slightly out of sync phrasing and different pronounciations
Duets where it's totally unlikely that either party is still alive: Ginger Wildheart and Courtney Love. Not actually especially good, but statistically miraculous.
Usually duets have both performers using the same instrument but here the violin and vocal is equally important so I'm calling it a duet. Absolutely love Hannah Epperson's playing in this.

Oh and Paradise by the Dashboard Light, obvz
Why would you post an Uncluded track that isn’t Bats? That’s mental.
It was a ‘bike forum’ joke.. “Cycle”, you see 🙂 Whole album is brilliant anyway
Stormin!
These were fab live
How about:
Or
Hannah’s:
>
< My mate Dale and Laura from And Yet It Moves. Scariest bastad I’ve ever seen live. Glad he’s on my side :D
I don't think we've had this classic yet:
and also:
The Blue Nile with Rickie Lee Jones - Easter Parade
The Civil Wars - Sour Times
I can’t find a video, sadly but Billy Bragg and Natalie Merchant sing ‘Bread and Circuses’ together.
Shawn Colvin & Mary Chaplin Carpenter - Amelia
I don’t think we’ve had this classic yet
I knew both of them would make an appearance (the videos, not the biffas). Another for your taste -
You also forgot -
Up Where We Belong - The late (sorry but he is) great Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes
The Girl Is Mine - Jackson/ McCartney
I've Had The Time Of My Life - Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes
Easy Lover - Phil Collins and another Phil
etc
Cerys liked a duet
Is this crap? I think it probably is (tomjonestomjones)
Here's a good ego collision - Rufus Wainwright and Ben Folds... Superb.
Can only be Jussi Bjorling and Victoria de Los Angeles, pretty much any duet on La Boheme (no video, didn't exist at start of 20th century
Given nobody complained about NW's last one, I presume this is also allowed
I’m a big fan of Kenny, here is a fabulous song. I’d recommend you play it with earphones, because it’s got a great deal of atmosphere and you’d loose that through shitty iPad speakers..
A bit more seriously, I don't know if this is non obvious enough - Winehouse's last recording
The Young and Moody band (featuring Lemmy) and The Nolans I'll never get tired of saying Lemmy and the Nolans
An old fave of mine
Not any kind of virtuoso performance, but bloody good fun and a great sentiment.
@bikebouy …your work here may be done ..but..you chose the wrong Diana Ross duet .
This one is better
And this one is better still, as it doesn't contain any of that self aggrandizing egotist harpy, Diana Ross:
Kate Nash and Billy Bragg
@sbob ..
Did you eat a dictionary for breakfast ?😁.
I take it that you are not a huge fan of Ms.Ross then ?
I'm not a huge fan either ..but do like that track and one or two others.and Marvin is the star on that anyway ..
You are probably right about the track you chose too with Tammy ..
My interest in Motown only stretches to one or two albums including a top 50 compilation..
I take it that you are not a huge fan of Ms.Ross then?
There's a video of her performing with the Jackson 5 and she keeps literally pulling Michael behind her so she can hog the limelight. Really put me off her.
CFH - you never cease to amaze me - didn't have you down as a reggae fan.
