Off to Dublin for a few days next week. At the moment a visit to the Guinness factory is on list but nothing else.

Any recommendations for things to do and see, and areas to drink/eat without been ripped off appreciated. Staying in the city centre.

Ta

After a trip round the Guinness factory, do the tour of the Jamiesons distillery as a chaser - and volunteer at the start of the tour to get extra tasters - if they still do that.

The "U2" wall - if just to see the one next door saying "This is not the U2 Wall"

The Post Office - having seen it in so many films about the Easter Rising, weird to see it for real.

Long time since we went though....

Second Dohenny & Nesbitts. And the taking of lots of money. For restaurants, try The Winding Stair, north side of the Liffey by Ha'Penny Bridge, L'Gueuleton near South Gt Georges Street (French), or a cheap(ish) French restaurant, Chez Max, by the castle. A new restaurant, Shebeen Chic was doing 10 euro lunch deals last year. And if you want to see what happens to Europe's biggest building projects when the money runs out, go down to the Docklands. The Grand Canal Theatre at least has been finished.

Don't forget to loiter around at the top of the Guinness storehouse. Amazing how many people get their perfect free pint, take one sip and declare "Oh no, I can't drink that!". Step up the practised minesweeper. Managed to have about 8 freebies up there before my wife called me from the shop to say she was ready. Don't remember the rest of the day much....
