They're not at all bad , Stoner, and they do look a little better than the "proper wellie" offerings from le Chameau et al.

Have you looked at Musto? http://www.musto.com/fcp/categorylist/dept/shooting_footwear?resetFilters=true

Or Ariat? (If she rides, these are the danglies!) http://www.ariat.com/products_detail.aspx?pcid=8&cid=1&scid=12&pid=268

That said, everyone I know with a pair of Dubarry boots loves them. I sail with folks who use their sailing shoes and they seem very pleased too!

(Just got myself some new le Chameau, neoprene lined jobbies from Robjents the other day, very pleased!

Had my Dubarrys for 5 years now, just had them re-sold last month and never had a days problem with them. Just give them a good clean every now and then with water and a brush. I have never fed mine or polished them and they look brand new.

One thing i would suggest is to get some boot trees for them as it keeps them in the right shape and upright as the leather softens.

3 good reasons to get them.....

One of the in-laws lives in them for about 8 months of the year.

Sprinsteen was wearing them at Glasto last year......

But mainly because they always have some fine young ladies on their stands at the country shows!

cheers guys.

CFH - MrsS isnt horsey so Ariats not needed. TBH Im just a luddite in my blue Hunters - but theyve gone a funny colour since wearing them to lay concrete - seemed to have bleached! 😮

Ton - why the clares specifically?

EDIT: CFH, Musto: I wont have Vibram bollox in the house 😉

I like Vibram soles, what can I say!

I've gone off Hunter, ever since they started doing other colours such as blue...! They became a fashion thing.

New Chameau boots are a joy, I have to say. Only used them for a few village strolls, not in anger as yet, but am very impressed.

Hi mate in another life worked on yachts and lived in mine for about two years and they were faultless!! It was the 17 days in them solid that finished them off!! so I'd go for it!

CFH - Im glad of our differences 😉

I like the blue hunters as they are low key. Greens too flashy.

Vibrams are fine in mud but lousy on roots or rocks. IMO.

🙂

How about something a little different?
[img] [/img]
Le Chameau Jameson.

[img] [/img]
Le Chameay Vatna.

One thing about Dubarry is that they do risk becoming the new Hunter, as in when the hoi polloi start wearing them! (Already happening, IMHO....)

Barry, Mrs Stoner is not a dole-quaffing chav, therefore she cannot wear such a thing.

😉

but at £250 a shout Im hoping not too "hunter" too soon.

Anyway, out these parts we dont have hoi polloi - that'd be one of your Pimlico problems 😉

Stoner, they're very popular in Alderley Edge with the wendyballer's wives/girlfriends etc.... 😉

Hunter appears to be the boot du jour for the King's Road again, which just seems rather odd when worn by a tasty blonde with a snappy little skirt!

We use Aigle boots from the Welly Shop, not far from you J3 M50 near Ross.
They also do Le Chameau plus a few others.

Had the neoprene for a few years but TBH find them hot to wear, unless your wading.

Thanks for this thread. I've been looking at Le Chameau and Dubarry boots, but the prices make me wince, so the Ranger Biker-style boot from Wellygogs are just the ticket. Would never have found those without this thread, so thank you, chaps! 😀

Some classic replies on the this post. Esp love the "dole-quaffing chav" 😉

FWIW, Mrs fbk loves her Dubarrys - she wears them in all sorts of weather and they alway stay dry inside and come up shiny new with a quick clean! Apparently.
