Seriously considering this, after a week of WFH, some boredom and a few too many glasses of wine !
God no. Home drinking is about the only hobby that I can currently do.
Lockdown's bad enough as it is, and you want to make it worse?
There are sacrifices and sacrifices, bitter isn't one of them
^^^^^ hmmm, fair points, maybe just moderation then 😁
I have been considering it. Had at least one drink every night for the past week or so. It's getting like that 3 week period over Christmas where I drink every day/night. Exscept this isn't going to end after 3 weeks.
I need to either stop or drastically cut down for both health and financial reasons - it's going to get expensive keeping beer supplies stocked up if I will keep on drinking it.
I'm currently off booze due to the anti-biotics I'm taking... half of me thinks I'll continue when they are done, the other half of me thinks I'll I want is a nice beer!
I did hear that they were considering banning alchohol sales because of the impact on your immune system, but as it was from someone else who saw it on social media, I'm inclined to think that it's bollocks.
Considering it too - being stuck at home is bringing out some slovenly tendencies in me and I think need to do something to regain some self control...
Oh **** that, my drinking is up 200% already and I expect the trend to be one-way until this shit is over.
My usual MO is a few drinks Saturday night, that increased to Fri and Sat when we first went home, now I'm up to Fri / Sat / Sun. I expect to be having a 9am eye-opener by the end of the month.
Not going dry, but do need to not drink every night of the week, which has become a trend over the past couple of weeks.
after a week of WFH
W*nkered From Home
[Smugcockmode]I'll be 2 years 'dry' at the end of this lockdown if it goes 13 weeks....[/Smugcockmode]
🤗
A whole month in the house without having a drink? Are you out of your mind?
We got really giddy last week and because the sun was out, me and Mrs Binners were sat in the garden having a few beers or G&T's and ended up drinking far too much
Now the sun is back in, it's effing freezing and the novelty has worn off, things have returned to normal.
The regulars from my local has set up a virtual pub, through Houseparty app, so we can dip in, drink beer out spout total bollocks at each other while we're all on Lockdown.
We put this out on a local Facebook group so that if anyone was feeling isolated they could join us for a session of "and another bloody thing....". Some brain dead busybody got in touch with the local licensing authorities and reported that the pub was still open.
Which bit of VIRTUAL pub don't you get, you ****ing moron?
I’m doing it. Using the lockdown as an excuse to shift some excess pudding and really get back in shape ready for some non existent racing!
I’m home alone though. Sharing a wall with a new born next door and I can definitely see why anyone locked at home with kids would want a drink or two!
No chance, we're on a bottle of wine a night at the moment, plus the odd whisky

This!
an hour of HIIT a day, and no chance for cheeky chips at lunch, or canteen rolls, I'll be built like Joe wickes, wi a tad less hair come summer! lol!

I seem to be workign on a packet of crisps every time I enter the kitchen
I get round this by not leaving the kitchen, comrade.
I would rather stop wiping my bum for lockdown than stop drinking. In fairness, I'm getting some exercise and eating far better than I was before lockdown, so I'll be sticking with the booze.
In the words of my mate who's bascially become a temporary alcoholic
"looks like the world is going to hell in a handbasket, like **** am I going through this sober"
Wise words indeed.
Is it too early for a beer?
I've mostly lost my sense of taste since the virus, gone right off drinking. Can just about taste rum but not as enjoyable as it should be.
So yeah best part of 4 weeks other than the odd trial taste.
Hell no.
But we are drinking like “normal” times. Friday after 4pm.
All bets off Saturday.
Sunday wine with much, maybe a beer in the evening.
Monday to Thursday, no drink unless we’re celebrating.

At the moment, every day is a celebration in this house 😀
Had one beer since it all kicked off, generally just CBA with the lethargy ontop of being house bound.
An evening without a beer - oohh suns still out, I'll get my hours ride in, endorphines, vitamin d and all the stress gone.
An evening with a couple of beers whilst stuck in the house - binge watch neflix and the feeling you just wasted a day of your life and the next morning you won't be going for an early ride either.
I guess we all have different benchmarks about what constitutes wasting a day of your life, at the moment.
I've drawn a picture of a water tower and beaten the kids at Mariokart. I reckon I've earned a pint
#winningatlife 😀
I bought a case of beers from Brew Dog. Half alcoholic, half AF. Guess which ones I've got more of...

I've found, with my anosmia, experimenting this weekend, that I can drink spirits like the Waco Kid. This was, I assure you, just a brief experiment - nothing good ever comes from drinking spirits.
I'm adhering to a zero alcohol policy, isn't A&E busy enough atm?
Couple of glasses of wine then off to the kitchen to prepare a sandwich using sharp implements, what could possibly go wrong?
Not had a drink since early march when I became a blabbering wreck. Sick of hangovers and self-loathing. So far after more than 3 weeks no part of me wants a drink and this lock down seems to be motivating me not to drink. Also been eating a much healthier diet which isn't bad either. Sorry if I seem smug. I am.
There are sacrifices and sacrifices, bitter isn’t one of them
Bitter is what I’d be making those sort of sacrifices! I bought six bottles of selected local brews yesterday, and so far drunk one. Damned if I’ll give up, but there are financial constraints that demand I at least be sensible.
Been dry since the start of Lent, did get a day off for St Patricks day... I could murder a cyder about now.
**** that.

🤔
God no! What i'm saving in petrol am spending on souther comfort (Other mildly crap spirits are available).
Why would i want to be sober at night time, night after night not allowed to leave the house, by 7 contmplating new patio.
I was saving my ale allowance for a forthcoming trip to the UK which is now not, er, forthcoming. There are some nice little pubs in my home town and environs, and I wonder which of them will ever reopen.
Anyway, did my bit and bought a crate of beer from a mate's bar which has been closed two and a half weeks already and is unlikely to reopen til mid May, if ever.
So, semi dry. Don't want to start midweek drinking in my pyjamas while pretending to wfm, but would like to pass a bit of custom to the local breweries and outlets who are going to struggle to stay afloat.
Seems sensible but....singletrackmind over there ---> is talking about his brewery selling off c3k pints by the end of this week with proceeds to, possibly, support, NHS.
beaten the kids at Mariokart
#competitivedad
well it's day 3 for me, I started early 🙂
Wine delivery from NakedWines due later this week, wife picked up some supplies of Gin and Tonic at shops yesterday (she is an non drinker...)
Will I last ????
(she is an non drinker…)
Should be really easy then, my wife is the same, one of the things that helped me step away from the demon drink. 🙂
I've been dry since mid-Feb. Originally it was to lose a couple of kg for XC racing but although the races are cancelled I'm keeping it up as I want to stay sharp for when the civil unrest and rioting starts... Plus I feel absolutely fantastic.
some of the "I can't get through a day at home without alcohol....." comments should really look into the definition of alcoholism!
I guess we all have different benchmarks about what constitutes wasting a day of your life, at the moment.
It was more a comment on hangovers lasting longer than the warm fuzzy feeling 🤣. I like a beer, I just like daytimes more!
I like a beer, I just like daytimes more!
I like a beer and drink most nights. I also like the day and haven't lost a day to beer since my 50th birthday nearly three years ago. There are points between 'sober' and '15yr old having drunk 4 pints of Stella and two large Pernod and Blacks' hammered.
I've been pretty much dry from January bar a ski holiday which was rather tame due to CV shutdown so I'd expect to be dry through April. I'm also down 3 stone since Jan and think this is big a factor, didn't go out and go mental drinking much beforehand but steady beer or two a day adds up when you also like pies.
I don't drink much, at most I'll drink a couple of 550ml bottles of ale in a night, or a bottle a night. But beginning of March just not really bothered with drinking. Not being able to just pop down the shop for a few bottles on a whim means no beer for me. Quite like it. In my experience, exercise, drinking, a defiant 3 year old, and a 1 year old that wakes us several times a night doesn't mix well, I'll drop the drink happily.
As someone who has quite an addictive personality, where even going a single day without alcohol can take some mental preparation, and when I'm being really good, won't drink on a week day but spend my time looking forward to that drink at the weekend...
I kinda did dry-January. Had a couple of heavy nights as soon as it was over. Then I've not drank since. And I can honestly say I'm not missing it - which is a huge surprise to me!
In fact even the thought of drinking again gets me down a bit. Much preferring complete sobriety, I feel much better for it.
It's not gone well for me. I was full of good intentions but then they had Hobgoblin Gold back in stock in Aldi today for the first time in 2 weeks. As soon as these devil children are asleep I'll be cracking a bottle open.
Ah well, there's always tomorrow.
On the plus side I did go for my first run in a few months today and I'm not completely broken.
