I just went into my son’s room to say goodnight, only to find him slumped over unconscious, with vomit all over himself and his floor. On the advice of the ambulance service, Mrs SR has driven him to A&E, and, being at home with the little kids, I don’t yet know what’s what.
When we could get him to speak, he said he took ‘too much t…’ Do you know a stupid drug that might be taken by stupid teens that begins with ‘t’?
Last year, after he finished his GCSEs, he got so ****ing tanked that one of his friend’s mum had to call for me to pick him up, because he was he was literally lying unconscious in the middle of the street. After that, he promised he ‘would never do something so stupid again’.
Well now he has. None of his three older siblings have done this, but his decision-making ever since he was a toddler has always been a bit ‘off’.
FFS. I am so mad at him right now. And worried. And a whole bunch of other things.
Tramadol? Unlikely, but it's the only drug with t that springs to mind...
Edit: and sorry to hear this, I hope everyone is okay. Virtual hug. Kids can be daft, dreading to think what my oldest is going to be like...
Only thing as above is tramadol.
Hope he's ok
Bloody hell.
Have you checked his pockets/room/vomit for any signs of what he could have taken?
The only thing that comes to mind is Tramadol, an opiod pain killer. It's pretty commonly abused.
Love and best wishes.
Pete.
Crystal Meth. Christina. Tina. T.
Hope he's ok.
Poppers perhaps. Quickly makes you pass out and vomit.
I'd expect that A&E will be able to test and then tell you rather than us all guessing?
"T" could be the start of a nickname rather than an actual drug name but beyond that I've got nothing. Sorry dude. Hopefully this might be a wake-up call for him?
'T' is the street name for crystal meth, as mangoman said.
Might be worth phoning his mate's parents and seeing if they can get any info.
A drug screening test can take a while to come through.
Sorry to hear this Saxonrider - sounds horrific and I hope he's ok.
Meth's impacts don't normally involve slumping over. Not sleeping for days is much more likely.
FWIW Temazepam was pretty commonly abused when i was a teenager.
Wow, what a horrible thing to walk in on!
It could have been "took too much to tell you" or something similar.
Hopefully he'll tell you when you speak to him in hospital.
Oh man what a shock.
Jeez, that's awful. Hope he's OK. Been a huge worry with my kids, youngest is likely to be the experimenter I think.
Never did drugs as never had easy access really, but me and mates did some daft stuff with alcohol back in the day at that age. A couple of mates ended up in hospital.
Usually a scare like that calmed everyone down, and hopefully your lad will be the same.
When he's ready, need to try and get him to talk about why he's trying it, see if there's any local groups who can help him and you get through this.
Any update mate?
Ketamine?
Sorry to hear this OP, sounds really upsetting.
In answer to which drug it doesn't sound like crystal meth and I don't think use of that is widespread in the UK (thankfully). Could well be tramadol or temazepam but also I would imagine kids have all sorts of slang terms for stuff that we aren't aware of.
his decision-making ever since he was a toddler has always been a bit ‘off’.
Just to pick up on this, could be totally irrelevant but has he ever been assessed for things like ADHD? Can be associated with impulsiveness/risk-taking behaviour and people often try to 'self-medicate' even with inappropriate drugs/quantities.
Hope he's OK and has given himself a scare by being taken to hospital.
Yes young people do abuse tramadol, and that sounds more likely than crystal meth given the symptoms (and relative availability).
Though don't read too much into the "T" and hopefully he'll come clean to you anyway.
Let us know how it goes.
When I was a kid growing up in the North East, we used to call cannabis resin / hash "tack" or "tak".
It was the poor quality soap bar stuff that the dealers sold to teens because we knew no better, and was probably only 5% cannabis and 95% dog muck, soil, diesel oil.
The stuff was guaranteed to make you whitey, puke, pass out etc.
I doubt it would be tina / crystal meth. He'd be bouncing off the walls and chewing his face off if he'd taken that.
Temazepam mixed with some booze will have that effect
In terms of harm limitation, I'd be attempting to steer him away from downers like opioids and benzos anyway.
Hope he's OK - 'young adults' do drive you mad - at least mine is only being stupid with his car and blowing the turbo (and engine) up. My BIL said, "well it's not drugs, could be worse".
Hope he's on the mend now, and possibly learns.
The key with drug use is education. Kids will be kids; I was, I did all sorts. I've come out of it the other end, pretty much unscathed. My worst experiences were with alcohol, by a very long way. I wouldn't suggest regular use of LSD is a good idea, nor habitual Skunk smoking, and I've certainly seen a few 'casualties', but alcoholism is by far the worst drug in our society, definitely the most destructive, and it's legal! It's all about knowing about how to use SAFELY. I was lucky enough to have access to excellent information and advice, so knew about looking after myself, and others. Lecturing on the sins of drug use probably won't have any positive effect but getting your son educated, may well be of great benefit to himself and others. As mentioned above; talk to Frank.
Weed also causes you to throw up and pass out, especially if youre new to taking it, though as mentioned maybe tramdadol and alcohol, which would also cause unconsciousness.
Maybe reminding him about the state he was in might help him to avoid it int he future, as negative imagery and memories do stop people getting too bad, a bit like being forced to smoke several cigarettes by a parent if caught smoking caused a very negative feeling of nausea.
Alas with kids though and their peer group, drugs and experimenting are a part of growing up. You can only hope it is minimized and other experiences give him the buzz he is seeking.
A classic example of the harm our archaic drug laws do
Kid wants to experiment. Due to lack of information and lack of easily obtainable safe options he takes an unsafe option instead.
Saxonrider - unlikely to have done any major harm and likely to be put of by the experience so try not to worry too much
He may have had too much tea !
Hopefully a wake up call for him. Vomiting while semi conscious is often the cause of death in drugs overdoses.
So he's about 17. You can try and break his supply chain for a while and hope (or organise) that when he leaves home the environment he goes into isn't too druggie. If you do go for the supply chain it could get exciting.
very unlikely there will be a supply chain here apart from one of his pals has got hold of some pills. Trying to get folk done for dealing in these circumstances is not helpful
He could well of just been out drunk a load of beer, had a joint or 2, pulled a whitey, threw up and fell asleep.
I doubt he’s become a crack head overnight.

Couldn’t agree more. T could easily have been “tokes”.
Taking drugs is part of growing up, with most its just a phase. Neighbours teenager was a complete pot head for a couple of years, now seems to have discovered the drums and is annoying the hell out of me in a completely different way!
Sorry to hear about your son, as others have said I wouldn't read too much into what he said, wait for him or the doctors to tell you what he took.
Worth bearing in mind that many people assume drugs are bought face to face, I've heard it's very easy now to buy these things over the internet and tech savvy teenagers may well do this. All they need is a bank account to buy some cryptocurrency and they could probably order almost any drug they want to be delivered in the post.
Also worth knowing that he may not have taken what he thinks he has taken. Plenty of drugs are miss-sold in person and online. If there are any of these drugs left then there are free anonymous drug testing services such as Wedinos that can tell you what it really is.
I hope your son feels better soon.
There's a kind of copy/version of Ketamine called Tiletamine. That'd make you vomit for sure. Not very popular but might be getting sold as a way to get round our wonderful and sensible drug laws. Or Temazapam as others have said could have that effect possibly. Cant really see it being Tina (meth), unless your lad is big into the gay chemsex scene, and/or American. And he sure as shit wouldn't be slumped unconscious... unless, he'd been at the 'G' (GBL/GHB).
Could also be booze, but that's ok right.
Trying to get folk done for dealing in these circumstances is not helpful
I agree, I just made it clear that supplying junior was a bad idea. I think they realised that anyone prepared to confront them 3:1 against at night had so little concern for his personal safety he could be a problem. Junior was not impressed especially when he realised what my next step was, that calmed things for just long enough - some battles are worth fighting. His mate dying and a funeral calmed things down quite a lot. He's 23 now so I've burried my head in the sand.
Any news SR? Try not to worry, teenagers tend to be daft. Sounds like you’ve been lucky with the others. Please update when you can
Sorry to hear that SR, that's tough to deal with.
Let us know how you get on.
