Got a takeaway coffee yesterday, parked up for a brew and dropped the cup in the car. Went all over me and the drivers footwell. Stinks at the mo, will I need to get it pro valeted to get the coffee out of the carpet or will it just dry and the smell go away?

Is a pro valet of the groinal area some kind of euphamism?

Leave a bowl of white vinegar in the car for a few hours, preferably when it's warm, and that should neutralise most smells.

I know you were "parked up..." but I could never understand why one of the most prolific car 'accessories' is the cup holder(s). Drinking (especially hot drinks) whilst driving has got to be right up there with using a mobile 'phone while driving 😯

Did the brew have milk in it? Bad luck if it did! Give the affected areas a good scrub, maybe try some proprietry cleaners. See how you get on before paying for valeting?

I dropped a full kingsize sprite in my old car. I could never get it dry, I had to cut the carpet out and dry it separately (and of course mop up and dry the exposed footwell)

There is quite a degree of difference between talking on the phone and drinking a beverage in a car.

Talking on the phone requires a level of concentration that leads to distraction; drinking requires next to no thought.

Yeah, the brew had a bit of milk in it. I think I'm going to have to look at getting the carpet up in the footwell and get under there to dry it. Not really looking at paying for a full Valet, just someone with one of those steam cleaning carpet jobbies that will get in there.

Too late now, but drive to a garage and use their industrial vacuum to remove the majority of it. That's what I did when J jnr puked in my car. I later paid for a valet, but at least the chunks were gone.

P.S. I did clean the vac nozzle with baby wipes when I was done.

It may still work. Will give it a shot.

I lost 5L of white emulsion in the foot well. Plenty of buckets of hot soapy water and lots of elbow grease and the hire company never realised! I feel sorry for its next owner....

If it had milk in it you will need an enzyme cleaner to remove the protein in the milk. It will stink otherwise.

Black coffee or with milk ? Milk is a problem as it will stink forever (had that experience). We had to change the removable footwell carpet and to be honest the smell never fully went away.

A nappy deployed immediately cannot be beaten for this.

Spray Autoglym interior shampoo all over and soak with a hot soapy sponge , (as near to boiling as possible) then the above industrial vacuum to suck it out.
It also works for heavily stained dirty seats.
