drove from Vienna back to Munich on Sunday and sat in a jam for over 2 hours. no check as such, just "wo gehts hi?"

will be driving across the other half of Europe on Saturday, Munich to Dunkirik.

have had a google but can't find much info. does anyone have any info regarding the border crossings , Germany/Belgium, Belgium/France?

i know it "kicked off" at both Dunkirk and Calais last week.....

cheers.

Between france & Belg there is some small delay on the highway (coast road or via Lille)...
There are controls where they are slowing down all cars & pulling out 'random' vehicles for control
Maybe 30 mins delay at peak times. 🙁

Not sure on the East of Belgium but I'll found out later as I'm just heading in that direction.

France/Belgium is a bit sketchy slow, the channel was a bit screwed by bad weather recently it's not so bad now. No idea about Germany/France.

I have been deliberately going to Dunkirk instead of Calais, had no problems at all, been a trouble free run.

Luxemburg motorway services, great for fuel at 96cents ish / litre, shopping (coffee beans, 6 kilos Segafredo €36 of and other stuff at good prices),

Also 24hr card fuel stop just outside the port about 10 mins from the ferry again, approx €1 / litre.

If your travelling at night, keep a look out for cameras in France, I got a ticket from doing +10kmh at 2am on the autoroute...

@alpin - we take the tunnel every 4-6 weeks and went through again at the end of last week, absolutely fine. The only delays we've experienced have been due to opperation stack (ie lorries parked on motorway) on the UK side and in fact between the tunnel and ferry last week it was in force. Over the past month we've seen more and migrants walking up the motorways to the coast but to date they haven't caused an issue for us. A number have been killed and injured after having been hit by cars so please be aware. Passport procedures are similar to normal and IMHO if you are in a car you'll be fine, it's larger vans or commercial traffic which are getting the most attention.

Getting out of France can be a pain but I'd suggest that one of the busiest crossings is into Luxembourg in the mornings and the guys here are experiencing 30 or so mins delays in rush hour these days. Beats the 2+ hours each way after the attacks that one colleague experienced. There are no delays going into Belgium from here.

It's only the French that have beefed up the Schengen area border controls.

My director crossed the Lichtenbusch border close by Aachen yesterday afternoon / evening (Belgium into DL) and had around 20min delay. Similar story as French border - slowing down all cars & pulling out 'random' cars for checks

A bit late, but hey ho...

De > Holland. Nothing
Holland > Be. Nothing
Be > Fr. Motorway closed offjust after border, traffic diverted down to a roundabout where two cops and two soldiers stand there nonchalantly smoking. Waved through without a search or even as much as a check out our paperwork.

Bon voyage!
